Ok, so bird rights don't equal more years and money?

The new CBA allows for sign-and-trades in the first 2 years, but they also restrict the value of sign-and-trade contracts to the same values as signing outright as a FA with another team. 4 year max, 4.5% raises. Their only value now is that you could theoretically still trade him (if he wanted, which he doesn't seem to) to a team without the necessary cap to sign him outright. There are no financial incentives, which hurts a team like us who could see him walk to NJ for nothing and him not wanting to request a sign-and-trade to gut the roster of the team he is about to go to. I assure you that Fegan won't allow him to do that either. There are also bigger restrictions on extend-and-trade contracts like Melo had.

my plan is to find the crappiest team in the league willing to rent dwight for a lottery pick and take Hedo. That way Dwight misses the playoffs and then has two fan bases hating him after he bolts their team. Don't give him what he wants.

I've read numerous places that the new CBA rules would not apply to this years free agents regarding s/t... Is this for sure incorrect? I certainly do not know the details just want to be clear.
