Hedo's is partially guaranteed following season... still not good though... you're right, we have to move Hedo definitely.

$6mil is a lot of space though for 2014 for Hedo, especially if we will be going after a couple of those big names. Need that gone...

The cut-and-stretch only applies to new contracts (BBD, JRich). How it works is, it's sort of like a semi-amnesty. You can pay a player off for the remainder of his contract, and it only counts against the cap in the following manner:

He only counts against the cap each year for the following calculation: (# yrs left)/(2x yrs left + 1)

So in other words...if we decided to do it in summer 2013 for BBD (who would have $13mil left total for 2 more years)....he would count against the cap for $13mil/(2x 2yrs left + 1) or $13mil/5yrs or $2.6mil against the cap instead of $6.4mil.

+1 great response, thank you

$6mil... that's for 2013/14

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/orlando.htm (this doesn't mention that Hedo's final year is partially guaranteed, but it's been confirmed here multiple times that it is).

Either way... whether it's non-guaranteed or partially-guaranteed... we have to move him if we have any chance of nabbing a FA in 2013

Okay then, if we kept Hedo and Jameer... and just got rid of J-Rich and BBD (for expiring deals), will that be enough for us to get a big FA in 2013? I would assume the cap will be set somewhere between $60-63mil (this season is was around $58ml)

We just have to clear cap.

Hedo is non guaranteed
Jrich wont be hard to move
Ryan and JJ will get raises

Right now, without hedo on the books we have about 15 committed. add Dwights 20, 60 mil cap maybe more. we'll have room for a max player

I dont think JJ will get a raise, he will continue getting 6mi a year, he doesnt deserve more than it, IMO. 6mi is more than MLE, no team would offer him more than MLE.

Tough to crunch numbers because it depends on what Jameer's new contract would be, what Ryno's contract would be, etc. I kinda think that Ryno might be sign-and-traded to ATL for JSmith this summer, I dunno. I'm sure Dwight would rather have CP3/Monta than Jameer, and I'm sure he would rather have JSmith than Hedo. The only thing I think that MAYBE we could do (since Jameer, Hedo prob won't be getting any great deals elsewhere), is maybe get them to opt out and sign to like 3 year deals around $5mil per? TOP priority though, has to be focused on clearing as much cap as possible for next summer and/or trading for one of those guys. THEN afterwards we can try to re-sign guys like JJ, Jameer, Hedo (remember we would still have the MLE available for a guy like Jameer/JJ).

Yeh, I kind of think we might save the MLE for JJ or Jameer. We have way more than $15mil committed though. Hedo is $6mil guaranteed, BBD is $6.4mil, Q's option is $3mil, still have Ryno to re-sign. I detailed our scenarios a page or so back....check that out. Realistically, we would prob have about $20mil in caproom that summer. Possibly up to $30mil.

If Dwight really waives his ETO today, we can be players in the summer of 2013 if we do some smart trading.

Would something like this be realistic if we included picks or cash?

I have been highly critical of Rudolph in the past, and I can't say I feel any need to make apologies for that. I don't think he's really done anything to deserve much admiration up to this point.

But I will give him his due credit if this all works out the way he says it will. All of these bigger outlets, the Sentinel seemingly among them, look set to be all kinds of butthurt if they end up getting scooped on this.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

I've never not believed Rudolph. I know he is good friends with Dwight, so he doesn't just make stuff up. I think a lot of you guys heard him report rumors, trade-talks etc, and WANTED them to happen so badly that when they didn't (and THE MASS MAJORITY OF RUMORS don't end up coming to fruition) you blamed him and thought he just made stuff up. Can you point to one thing really that he lied about though?

If he hasn't signed by 12, we need to press on with trades.

I'm glad that we haven't stopped discussing trades, in the meantime.
