This could be a great day for our team
BTW, y'all think Otis is gonna make one or more smaller changes to this roster today?

Why would you do that? This is a great opportunity to make a run for the playoffs then trade his talents in the summer for the best fit. As is being mentioned on here repeatedly, this is a one year player option, not an extension. I don't see this as a commitment but a better trade chip for us.
Otis... send Dwight Coward down the road this summer.

Don't you think that's a bit close to the 3pm deadline?

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.
Stephen A Smith @stephenasmith
Dwight Howard CHANGED HIS MIND. After swearing to everyone he wanted out, he's guilted into staying. And he'll regret it, too. He won't be happy. Mark it down.

This is the exact same guy who on draft day 8 years ago said "the Orlando Magic HAVE to take Emeka Okafur!"

I do sort of see what you're saying...that he wants a run at these playoffs and then will simply demand a trade again during the summer. I was on that bandwagon before, but honestly, I don't think he is going to do that this go around. Perhaps he might, but I feel this time is sincere. Perhaps if things go way south next year, this might pop up again....but I think it will be more the route of planning to bring in help in the following summer, when we have caproom. Not to mention, where is he really going to force himself to this summer? Nowhere that he wants to go play would have caproom the following summer, so he doesn't have that same leverage. His ideal situation then would be to bring a guy here to Orlando, since WE would more than likely have the capspace to sign a max guy. Then he gets the best of both worlds, build a legacy here, most $$$ here, AND a star beside him.
