just like our problem

what? our offense is clearly our problem, were a pretty good defensive team, 9th in the league. same for the knicks. their offense is inept (23rd in the league), while their defense is pretty solid (10th). lakers offense is 14th fwiw.

did anybody bother to read the article?

the "source" quote is that Phil would likely be intrigued. meaning Phil has not said anything to anybody and some yahoo in NY thinks Phil probably is intrigued by the Knicks roster. that's like some yahoo at realm posting that Phil is intrigued by the Knicks.

I found your post intriguing.

Imagine the Triangle offense with Lin, Amare, & Melo.

NY Post reports that they talked to a picture of Phil Jackson and that is what they thought he would say.

would be great to see phil on the court again, but i doubt his health would allow him to handle a full regular season

Triangle = disaster for the Knicks.

Melo and Amare aren't sufficient as passers to handle that, and Amare's post game doesn't really match up to the idea either.

Lin would probably be fine, and a couple of their other guys would likely do well but the triangle wouldn't really fly their. Who are they going to two-guard front with, Toney Douglas? I shudder at the thought. No point-forward, no competent second guard (Shump and Douglas were a big part of why Lin made such a huge EFF-YOU difference to their backcourt and ball movement until Melo returned), weak post-up bigs...

It's like the anti-triangle team.

And yeah, Phil can go where he wants and do what he wants. He gave the Lakers 11 seasons, and the already-discussed winning. Almost a dozen years of him at the helm, and with that success. He's earned the right to do whatever the hell he pleases. He's a smart guy, though, and given New York management and that roster, I doubt he touches the Knicks with a ten-foot pole.
