HAHA...Nets going to give up a 2012 pick with only top 3 protection for a year and a half of Wallace at 11 Mil. Nets fans should be losing it right now.

The problem is that they might be too aggressive, trying to buy/trade for players too quickly instead of trying to rebuild through the draft. Their lack of patience could backfire. These are the same people that paid Travis Outlaw $7 million per year.

Yeah but these idiots could be giving up a 2012 Top 3 protected pick for Gerald Wallace, Are you kidding me?

Deron's not staying, unless maybe they get LMA
I wouldn't bet the mortgage on that - if I were you. I think NJ is counting on him staying - and they're making moves with that in mind.

That is so moronic.
Some of the stuff i have seen from other teams lately makes me feel a little better about being a Wizards fan.

The only way I see how this would not be a disaster of a deal was if Lopez was healthy and they were winning games. However, Lopez is likely out for the entire year, Deron is hobbled and they rent a non-game changer in Wallace. They will definitely be in the lotto this year, with a deep draft class.
Horrible deal.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves
With Howard staying in Orlando another year, our chances of acquiring him have just gone up tenfold (from 0.1% to 1%).
If we add a good player with our lotto pick and a starter via free agency, we could find ourselves as an up-and-coming 40ish win team next year with a promising young roster, a major media market, an owner willing to spend money, cap room, and a gaping hole at center.
The roadmap would be as follows:
Trade Young for Bledsoe
Trade McGee and our 2nd rounder for a mid 1st.
Draft Thomas Robinson
Draft a shooting guard with our acquired 1st (Terrence Ross?)
Sign Nicholas Batum (overpay and frontload if necessary)
Sign a second tier shooting guard like Danny Green or Fernandez
Amnesty Blatche
Lock Vesely in the weight room with a crate of protein powder
Find a stopgap vet center on a 1-year deal. (Pryzbilla?)
Next year, we'd roll with:
PG Wall/Bledsoe
SG Green/Ross/Crawford
SF Batum/Singleton/Ross
PF Robinson/Booker
C Seraphin/Pryzbilla/Vesely
That team could win 35-40 games and play smart, fundamental, unselfish basketball with great D. There would be no more talk about the Wizards being the idiot laughingstocks of the NBA. Would Howard join that team?

Yeah we are still in the game for Howard. He wants to be the number 1 option which he surely would be here. A longshot but it is possible.

Isn't the pick a 2013 protected 1st rounder?

It's a 2012 top 3 protected pick. Good chance the Blazers are going to have two lottery picks.

Cleve has acquired the LAL 2012 1st rounder in exchange for Ramon Sessions guaranteeing a championship for the Lakers.

Re: Discussing Other Teams' Moves
I don't understand the trade for New Jersey. The pick is top-3 protected. They either have a "wink-wink" deal with Stern that they're getting a top-3 pick or they're feeling mighty lucky because Wallace is good enough to push the Nets out of "worst team in the league" discussion which just increases the chances they get a worse pick.

Ruzious, the real point is they gave up a pick that could turn out to be someone like Arnett Moutrie, Tony Mitchell, or Moe Harkless to the Cavs just so they could get Ramon Sessions on Lakers.
Sessions is definitely going to help Kobe's tired legs by relieving him of some of the scoring load in the backcourt.
(Since the all star break Kobe has been playing some bad basketball--I don't care about his points in the past two wins).
The Wizards shoukd have drafted Derik Queen

I can't believe an NBA GM did that willfully. I'm guessing it was owner-induced. The owner panicked - after realizing he wasn't going to get Howard - so he figured he had to acquire a veteran to keep Deron happay. But Wallace is a guy who's always relied on his athletic ability and will turn 30 in a couple of months - and his scoring and rebounding averages have dipped quite a bit in the last 2 seasons. He can still play, but there's no way you give up a high pick for him at this point in his career. Kudos to Portly. I hope they get NJ's pick this year.

It'll certainly be the last pick in the 1st round. Cross fingers for Cleve - if they get lucky, they get the next Luke Walton. But ya gotta feel bad for Cleve's coach having to deal with no more Sess.

Although they are listening to offers, perhaps they plan on keeping one or both as core pieces, especially since Wallace is gone. With all of these owed-picks, draft-night could be really wild.
