Nick Young traded to Clippers/McGee to Denver/Nene to DC

Post#1 » by Rafael122 » Thu Mar 15, 2012 7:34 pm

Per Woj's tweet:

The Clippers have traded for Washington's Nick Young as part of a three-way deal, source tells Y! Sports.

And Aldridge was reporting that the Wizards were looking to trade McGee and Young for Nene.

Looks like Young was traded for Cook and a pick.

Wizards trade McGee for Nene.

Yes. Better than Ryan Gomes for sure. And if the 2nd round pick is this year's pick, it could give us more ammo to trade back into the first round.

Denver wanted out of Nene's contract. Probably because he's having his worst season in 4 years, and he's getting $13 million per season through the 2015-16 season. At least the Wizards got another pick.

Honestly, I'm not thrilled. I don't mind trading Young or McGee. (I wonder how the altitude in Denver will affect McGee and his asthma.) Hopefully Nene can get back to what he was last season.

Even if he maintains a PER of around 17 and continues his strong defense, he's worth around 13mil per season. Probably a bit less but I'd rather pay him 13mil than pay McGee 10-12mil (if that was the alternative).

Rather have Nene at $13 mil per year than McGee at the same price, if not closer. At least you know what you get with Nene.

He's a great veteran to pair with Wall, as he's a very efficient scorer. He's also not good enough to push us out of the lotto, so I'll take this deal!

This is a horrible f'n move.

Grunfeld is a chump.

Nene makes about $13M a year. The reason he's been traded is Kenneth Faried is already a far better player.

Damn, it sucks to be a Wizards fan. All the damned fool GM had to do was draft Faried.

I am done with Ted Leonsis and I despise Ernie INCOMPETENT Grunfeld.

Shyt, he should have acquired Bogut over Nene.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

For the record, I'm absolutely ecstatic about this trade.

Nene brings a high BBIQ, defensive presence to the center position. It helps that he's an above-average scorer who can dish the rock competently.

Young was gone after this season and McGee would have commanded probably around 10mil per year. No thanks.

Cook is an expiring. And we get a 2nd rounder which could be useful.
