Did y'all just give up B.Cook for Nick Young? If so, good business. Congrats.

It's Cook and a future 2nd rounder for Young.

Still, that's a nice trade and we can try to re-sign Young in the summer, when he becomes an UFA.

We got exactly what we been wanting. A big two guard that can create his own shot. I know he can be a headcase and shot happy, but he should be a shot in the arm for some energy. So does he start over Foye now?

So glad that we got Young and didn't have to give up much. Let's see how he meshes with the team. I don't think he should start over Foye, let's see how he plays on the defensive end.

In D.C, he was basically our go-to scorer but in a system like LA's, he's going to be lethal. If he has a foot of space, he's a deadly shooter. In Washington, he simply has to force a bunch of terrible shots.

Now, he doesn't have great shot selection but it's also partly because there's simply no one else on this team who can score.

The role tailor-made for Nick is a 6th man who can come into the game and score.

I have been thinking all year that Nick was a natural fit for you guys. He gets dogged a lot on the Wizards board for the things he can't do. He will not

get assists
get rebounds
make good decisions on either end
get to the basket and finish in traffic

The two things he does well are shoot (catch and shoot or off the dribble) and play man D. If Nick goes into a shooting slump for more than a week it means he is hurt. He never slumps for long. He is also a hard guy to beat off the dribble. He sometimes makes embarassing mental gaffes on D but if you tell him to get in Kobe's jersey and slow him down, he can do that.

His role on the Wizards was too big. He is much better suited as a 3/4 option on offense. Even though he had to go I am going to miss him.

Good luck Nick

This is exactly the kind of trade that a smart GM makes. Giving up a 2nd round pick and Brian Cook is like giving up nothing, and Nick Young is not a bad defender either, he's fairly average. Right now I think it will be good to bring him off the bench though it's sad to see that it will eat into Bledsoe's minutes.

In the long run, he will likely infiltrate the starting lineup just for the sake of getting better size, by we'll see. He played with Caron Butler as. Wizard, so hopefully that is a good thing as they will have some chemistry.

The Wizards made some huge strides today and I would love to see them add Davis or MKG to their roster. Nick Young was one of those Wizards players that I have been calling a knucklehead. They needed to get rid of him.

A change of scenery was something that he needed. Being on this team with a different role could definitely work for him. There was not much order or structure in Washington. Here, his role will be more defined. Having some of the veterans that we have here should he keep him in line on the court. I know he's glad to be home and have an opportunity to play in meaningful games.

Hmm, maybe something else is being worked on in addition to this, we certainly know that it won't be Gomes, lol

Nene to Washington is really interesting, they might have something developing there by getting a more consistent guy next to Wall.m

They just needed to change that locker room. Wall is a true talent, would be a shame to see it all rot away. A good step for the Wizards.

Yea, really like this for the Wizards, not sure how Nene feels about it though, but there's obviously a reason Denver traded him so soon after signing.

I also can't believe that the Lakers finally got rid of Fisher, he's been awful for a little while now.

Clippers acquire Nick Young from Wizards

The Clippers acquired shooting guard Nick Young from the Washington Wizards for Brian Cook on Thursday.

Cook said he was informed of the trade by Clippers’ management that he would be sent to the Wizards.

The Clippers have been looking for a shooting guard since Chauncey Billups suffered a season-ending torn left Achilles’ tendon injury Feb. 6.

Young was averaging 16.6 points per game for the Wizards this season, and he has a career average of 11.6 points over four seasons.

Young, a 6-7 guard who was a star at USC, is shooting 40.6% from the field and 37.1% from three-point range this season.

Yahoo Sports was the first to report the story, and it also said the Clippers would send the Wizards a future second-round draft pick along with Cook.

“I’m up out of here,” Cook said in a phone interview Thursday. “I wish the Clippers well. It’s part of the business. I’ll go work hard for the Wizards.”

A much better deal than giving up Bleds for Crawford since now Olshey can try to flip Bledsoe for a pick on draft night.

Great job by Olshey to get a proven scoring two-guard in exchange for no valuable assets. Clipper fans must be very content as is right now, me included.

Return to Los Angeles Clippers
