No Trades

Post#1 » by kevin44 » Thu Mar 15, 2012 8:15 pm

I am not surprised these morons did nothing. Who's to blame Petrie or The Maloofs? We are stuck with the second worst team in the West. After losing to the Warriors & Pistons it's pretty clear this team has serious problems. Is there light at the end of the tunnel for this team?

Think Geoff this time. I doubt the Maloof's would have minded letting JJ go for something for example, even a second many years from now. It is a good thing imo that nothing major happened until we see where our pick falls, and what is there to draft. Draft day trade or trades is a better call on major pieces. So I am happy nothing major, but annoyed nothing minor for people who won't be around here next year.

Petrie and the Maloofs are probably still a little sore from getting raped by the Beno/#7 for Salmons/Jimmmer and Casspi/1st for Hickson trades.

You had to get something for JJ though. He doesn't fit here, that's clear as day, and any more wasting time and trying to fill 4 bodies into three spots is just going to prolong the uselessness of this frontlines usage. Right now you're either looking down the barrel at signing both JT and JJ back (DUMB), or letting one or both just walk in the offseason (DUMB). My guess is JJ walks, so you traded an eventual 1st rounder and Casspi for NOTHING. I think Petrie gets unfairly bagged on, but this was a whoops on his resume for sure.

Next step should be to see who hits the buyout wire. If a player like Diaw hits the market and the Kings don't at least look in that direction, I question their motives.

If you really look at all those trades, initially they haven't worked for any teams. You could actually say that with Salmons recent play the Kings won that Bucks/Bobcats trade.

I just hope we round up a good pick in the draft (and pick the right player) and go after some guys i.e. Batum in the offseason. If Petrie can do those things, he can redeem himself. But as of right now, Petrie isn't working out for us.

Not when you consider we gave up the opportunity to draft better players to take Jimmer.

But yeah. Annoying we didn't get anything for Hickson. I mean maybe he played his value down to being less than a late 1st, but if not, I don't see the excuse for that.

McMillan & D'Antoni are available.

Why, oh why we extend Smart's contract so early!?

Well, if anything, Petrie rejected a Nene/Cousins swap:

We can stop with the fantasy of getting Batum. He's a RFA and the Blazers just showed their hand and they going all in with Batum.

Unless we offered Batum a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) contract ($15 mil? $16 mil? is that even possible for him?), then there is zero chance of us prying him away from the Blazers.

That's still hard to say, give Jimmer 30+ mpg and a starting role, then I'll make my mind up.

The sad thing about Hickson is I don't think he really played his value down, he just doesn't play enough. He's a volume type and those guys look baaad in limited minutes and with a limited role. A player like that, who is still pretty young, who had a decent season the year before, and doesn't play much for his current team will get forgotten about. The question is what do you do? Do you screw up the rest of your team to spotlight a player that doesn't really fill any needs? All that does is waste your time and this franchise did enough of that pre-tank. Should have moved him earlier probably.

You have 4 guys all deserving minutes in that frontline and the thing that pisses me off is the likelihood that the revolving door at PF from night to night continues forth where nothing gets built upon, nothing gets cemented. One night it's Greene, the next Thompson, maybe Hickson here or there, Hayes at backup C, only playing when Cousins is off the floor. Yuck, I question whether I even want to watch this mess. :x

Yeah, you are right. I wrote my post without knowing that they traded Gerald Wallace to the Nets. My bad.

I wonder how long Petrie gets sacked. If anything, we start from the top and clean house if we continue to be this terrible all season long.

If the type of offers available were Nene for Cousins, I'm glad we did nothing.

This season is a lost cause anyway. I'd rather tank and re-tool in the off season.

Giving Jimmer 30 minutes of PT is like playing 4 on 5 on defense for 30 minutes.

Yeah, what a change of face by the Blazers. Guess their sucking effected the Kings in a way. Batum isn't worth more than 7-8 million tops for a team like the Kings. He'd be here for nothing more than role player duties so yeah, scratch that one off the list. By all accounts Petrie inquired by the Blazers dun blowed that **** up!

The only interesting thing relating to the SF spot is that the Nets got GWall. They were the other team trying to pry AK from Russia, that leaves the Kings as pretty much is only option if he wants to come back.

I've been somewhat impressed by Jimmers defense the last month or so. He's pretty good at staying in front of his man at least. Just gets lost sometimes, but that's all mental.
