Calvin Johnsn's contract is the richest deal ever handed out in the NFL, exceeding the $120 million

deal given to Larry Fitzgerald.

That's a lot of money, but he is an impact player.

IMHO, he's the best WR in the game & top 5 overall player in the NFL.

With him being the highest paid player now, there's going to be much more pressure on the entire team to win; not just on Johnson.

Wow. Insane. Cliff Levingston is happy about and sad about it. Happy that the Lions has sooo much money tied up in one player, but sad that that player is soooo awesome.

Calvin Johnson’s payday

Johnson had the right answer when Detroit media asked him how he’ll spend it.

“I’m smart,” he said. “I’m going to invest it.”

A couple unsolicited suggestions of what Johnson can do with $60 million.

- 2,495 pounds of gold at market price. Could be melted down for an awesome weightlifting set.

- Real estate is always a solid investment play. For instance, an eight-bedroom, 9.5-bathroom, beachfront home in Maui with pool and Jacuzzi. He could buy 2 1/2 of those. Good schools, too.

- Given that his mother is an educator, Johnson must know that a sound mind is perhaps the greatest investment of all. He could endow 40 faculty chairs at Tech, provide full tuition for 6,216 in-state undergrads or endow 120 athletic scholarships.

But, if he’d rather spend it elsewhere…

- One of everything at the Varsity (not including extra cheese or bacon): 437,636.

- Georgia Tech helmet signed by Calvin Johnson: 133,333. An eight-bedroom home in Maui would be the ideal storage space.

- Use of the Georgia Dome for 1,500 days. That doesn’t even take into consideration that the rental fee drops by $10,000 if he rented it on consecutive days.

- A daily subscription to the AJC for a year for 272,727 years. It’ll pay for itself in coupons. http://blogs.ajc.com/georgia-tech-sport ... ns-payday/
