I'm very impressed. We stuck to our guns and didn't do anything to put our long term plan at risk by making a stupid trade.

you must be very easily impressed. then again we are used to our GMs regularly getting bent over this time of year so doing absolutely nothing is a nice change, even if we wasted assets

Honestly, who's running the show during these trade talk? We know Cho deals a lot with the draft and scouting, but why doesn't Higgins get all the PR? I hope Higgins isn't the one taking the calls and making decisions during this deadline!

Cho said the extra cap space opened up is something important, so it's not really wasting assets.

All of our future expirings are going to come in very handy next year for the mad FA dash, we'll probably harvest a lot of good draft picks out of them.

Our biggest concerns are: Match DJA's offer, whatever that will be, re-sign Gerald after next year.

I don't see any way in **** that happens now that we see there is a good bit of interest from other teams.

I actually would not be surprised if we matched DJA's offer sheets. We'll have cap and and he's young enough to keep around for Cho's master plan. Plus, Charlotte might have some more change in the coffers if we land Anthony Davis and get more fans to the games next year.

I could be on board with that, at least match it as long as it's not too outrageous and worst comes to worst trade him at next year's trade deadline before he walks.

BTW I'd say we helped the Rockets out. We were so putrid last night they were able to trade Flynn and Hill.

We could afford to take on his offer sheet, and I loved DJ, so I'm very optimistic about him staying.

We could afford it, but why would we do it? If we do then it's basically saying we wasted a pick on Kemba or that Kemba is not a PG. I do not think we will match a long-term DJ contract.

I'm actually not - but I'm also not unrealistic. You seem to think that other teams were clambering over each other to throw 1st round picks at us for guys like DJA and Diaw. You don't think if that was the case that our front office would have been all over it? You make it out as if our front office were out on a long liquid lunch rather than working the phones.

You know it's in their best interest to improve the team and they would be doing everything within their power to do that - right? You seem to be thinking that "best case scenario" for us should just automatically happen for us and all other teams should just comply.

What clear and telling examples of the chronic pessimists:

Good question. I guess I just always factor in the fact that a lot of things can happen between now and then. Kemba could get injured, Kemba could attract some crazy trade offer we can't refuse, DJA could turn into Tony Parker for some reason (joke), etc but you get what I'm saying.

At either rate, we're gonna need 2 pgs on the roster next year and I don't see any very good ones floating around in the draft so who knows.

Another one of my favorite wash outs was pavel podkolzin, the 7'5 oaf who the Mav's drafted and auditioned for a year

Hah, I remember him from an old NBA live game. I kept training/developing him until he turned into Dallas's best player

We stood pat, I don't think there was any way we'd get much better by trading. It all comes down to if you'd rather take on some extra contracts for a couple years to pick up a late 1st rounder. I don't know if it was really worth it. I like having our books look clean after next year.

We prob aren't gonna be good next year either so we have to time to get backups.

We'll need all that cap room to resign Derrick brown to 30 mil per.

If they think a Big Gun FA is coming here, just look at GS this past summer as proof that's not going to happen. Dwight, CP & co wanted nothing to do with GS's cap space. Big names want Big Markets.

This yr's best FAs are restricted (Hibbert, Batum, Mayo, CLee, GeorgeHill, Lin, Fields) which means you're not getting them.

We could try the Good Depth approach, ala small mkt IND/DEN/HOU, but still, this summer you're looking at:
Unrestricted FAs (see complete list here: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/Fre ... -2012-2013
Ilyasova, Mahinmi, Dragic, Hawes, Lou Williams, Andre Miller, Dahntay Jones, Terrance Williams, Earl Clark, Nolan Smith, Slim Pickens

I covet Steph Curry ('13, restricted) as our perfect FA tgt (read:someone who would like to play here) but meanwhile mgmt is grooming Kemba to be our PG.

:-? :-? :-?  After Thinking about what Slam said. I guess we are better off doing nothing now. I Wonder what Cho's and MJ's plan for the off season is going to be? With Diaw and Najeria gone and money available what's the teams greatest needs? Also DJA and DJW are restricted free agents and I expect both to leave. DJA maybe to NJN as Deron Williams finishs building his new house and is traded to or bought by Cuban. DJW should be our starting forward now, but also will go. The only chance TT has is if he can move to 3 and develop a consistent outside shot and Mike D is brought in as coach. If we get the top pick WE WILL select Anthony Davis a 4. Portland will not make the playoffs and their protected pick should be in the teens. Ho Hum more of the same, less gate receipts in 2012-13 season and closer to Bankruptcy. Its gonna be interesting :x 6-36 now ....next year 20-62 Cmon Man!
