OT: Visiting Los Angeles

Post#1 » by Kennoz » Thu Mar 15, 2012 10:46 pm

Hey guys, I'm from Chicago and I plan to visit LA for spring break at the end of this month. Any places/suggestions to visit other then going to a Lakers game and Universal Studios. Thanks a lot. :)

It's always about food when you come to LA.

What do you like to do? Beach, site see, club, strip club, bars... but yeah, if I was in LA, I head straight to an In N' Out first.

hi Kennoz,
to save you some googling, you can check the links under "check it out" + "useful links"
on this website for my ancient travel guide to SoCal. It's way old, about 1999, but the links to a page of beaches and sites for various activities are MOSTLY OK...

A) Definitely make a point to head to the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, for the LA eccentricities that you can't find at the more "commercialized" grove. I would definitely wear red when you go to, need to show that Chicago pride!

B) The prettiest of LA parks is certainly MacArthur Park Lake, tons of culture and you really feel a part of LA there, at night there is unsurpassed excitement!

C)Hawthorne Memorial Park has some of the best ballers in the town, if you want to see quality basketball definitely come here!

Thanks for the tips so far guys.

The hotel i'm staying at is like 5 miles away from the Staples Center. I'm definitely going to try the In-N-Out Burger, I've always been a big fan of burgers and fries. I also always wanted to go to a Lakers game even though i'm a Bulls fan. I have to see Kobe play before he retires! And hopefully I run into a celebrity while i'm there they all seem to live in LA. Lol
