Trade deadline winners and losers
In your opinion who are the winners and losers
I got the Spurs as the clear cut winners by quietly getting Jackson back.
I have us in the winning column, but we did give up an unnecessary 1st and a locker room leader.
I got the Blazers as the losers

Re: Trade deadline winners and losers
Biggest winners:
3. Lakers - Traded straight up trash for Ramon Sessions, a PG I love and one we badly needed. Amazing. Fisher is also done and traded him for Jordan Hill.. don't know what to think about him so I'll reserve judgement on that trade. The bad is our first rounders gone.
2. Spurs - Traded the useless Richard Jefferson for Stephen Jackson.. people forget that before he was crazy, he helped Pop and the Spurs trio win the title in 2003. Pop loves him and he respects Pop.. one of the few times this happens with Capn Jack.
1. Clippers - Traded... Brian Cook and the 2015 2nd round pick for Nick Young. They've been throwing midgets out there to play SG for them.. Billups, Mo, Foye.. finally they get a true SG. Young on this team will fall out of his stupid ballhog ways (hopefully for them) and become the creative/long-range SG they need.
Losers: No idea, probably one of the sides from the Bucks-GS deal from a couple days back. The other deals are more money related (like the Blazers are obviously tanking and getting pieces for the future). Maybe also the Nets since they'll lose a high pick for Gerald Wallace, who probably won't convince Deron to stay there.

Re: Trade deadline winners and losers
Spurs as winners for getting that year of RJ off.
Magic as winners in two ways:
1.Getting Dwight to extend
2.Otis Smith didn't make any trades. That guy only makes horrible deals (Rashard for more money in Arenas; Gortat/VC/1st for JRich/Turk; Bass for Fat Baby).
Had us winning hard after turning Walton and a 1st into Sessions, then felt the Rockets trade was like a not-as-good version of the other with us dumping a better contract (Fisher, to Walton) with a pick (albeit we probably wouldn't see it this year anyway) for a worse player(Hill, as compared to Sessions). Still winning, but I think having the expected Beasley turn to Hill was a bit of a downer.
I, maybe controversially, got the Nuggets as winners. I don't think they even care if McGee resigns. I think they were regretting the oft injured Nene signing already and were looking sadly into 4 more years of him at 13 mil, while liking their cheaper younger alternatives at both PF and C, and it's not everyday you can find someone to take 52 mil off your books even for a solid player like Nene.
I got the Nets as losers for being on the losing end of the Dwight fiasco then following it up with giving their pick away when they need to be adding young talent.

Re: Trade deadline winners and losers
I say Nets is the loser and Lakers/Clips are winners.
Nets traded a top 3 protected pick for who? GERALD WALLACE?!?! What are they thinking? Dwill might leave after this season and Gerald Wallace might opt out of his player option to sign a longer contract (I'm think he will as he wants to get his last big long-term contract) with ether Nets or another team. Nets could potentially lose their pick for nothing.
Lakers although gave up 2 1st round picks, they dumped two bad contracts in Walton/Fisher and gained a stellar PG in Sessions and an underachiever Jordan Hill. Sessions and Blake PG rotation will work well giving us two type of different style PG's which will throw the opposition out of sync imo. Hill has alot to prove but if he pans out, he can fit with the front-court rotation well. Eyenga, he has potential but he has been sucking alot so far this season (even in D-league) so I don't have much hope for him. Overall, it's a win but I think if we acquired Beasley we would've been the clear favorites of the West (Oh well, we can try again next season!)
Clips made a steal today by just trading Brian Cook (Who knew he was still in the league?) and 2015 2nd round pick for Nick Young. Fills a void in the SG position that they desperately need for an extremely low value exchange.

Re: Trade deadline winners and losers
1. I got the Spurs as the top winners. a focused Capt Jack is scary. they badly need help since the Big 3 is almost in the downfall of their careers.
2. would've been a landslide for the Lakers if they managed to net Beasley. the Houston trade was kind of of a "meh" since we could've gotten another player to fit the salaries. probably Terrence Williams. unloading a lot of financial problems and getting Sessions is the highlight of our trade.
3. Nuggets. I'm not talking about getting McGee. during the trade deadline they signed Wilson Chandler. that 2/3 spot may be the deepest in the league right now.
4. Clippers. they finally have that legit 2.
5. GSW. man, if Bogut's healthy, watch out West.
my only loser is the Bucks. I'm not sure how Jennings-Ellis will work.

Re: Trade deadline winners and losers
the clear cut losers are the nets. they lost out on dwight for at least a yr, and in their panic to please d-will. traded a great pick with barely top 3 protection.

Re: Trade deadline winners and losers
1)
Winners are obviously Lakers! Will miss Fish's locker room presence and thats about it.
2)
Spurs are actually good quiet winners.(The trade was made specifically because he is a defensive shooting guard. think guarding kobe in the playoffs)
3)
Clippers are good winners to some degree. i doubt that Young will be getting those stats on the Clippers since he was doing that on a bad team that had very little options. Also he is a big chucker he is averaging like one assist a game and around the same in rebounds. If you think Kobe is a ball hog than this guy makes kobe look like Steve Nash.
4) I think the Nets are big losers they traded their first round pick Gerald Wallace top three protected.
Even if they ended up with the worst record in the nba they can get land number 4 and lose their draft pick. I don't know what the GM was thinking, That is why you don't put all your eggs in one Howard err I mean basket
All the other trades i am not to sure about.

i actually think the blazers did a good job. they were obviously not going anywhere with their team and to get that pick from the nets was a steal imo.

Winner is definitely us I think having session is going to change our whole team. More fast break points, have someone who can drive, more speed, and i think our defense improves with sessions quickness even though he is not a good one on one defender.

Re: Trade deadline winners and losers
Winners:
1. La Clippers- More of a winner than us, considering what they gave up is far less than we gave up.
2. LA Lakers- No need to explain this. Would have been first if we got Beasley instead of Hill
3. Portland- Some great rebuilding moves, getting the NJ pick plus tanking the rest of the year could get them some solid pieces. Should have gotten rid of Crawford. Blake's contract sucks but another pick would have been good to have.
Losers:
1. NJ- Seriously wtf are they thinking? Do they think Gerald Wallace is enough to keep Deron around? When Deron leaves for Dallas next year things are going to get sad in their new arena. Gerald Wallace, Brook Lopez, Marswag Brooks, is a terrible team. Deron would be more likely to stay if they somehow got the first pick rather than Gerald freaking Wallace.
2. GSW- I know it wasn't the deadline, but they just made another move that'll ensure them mediocrity for a few more years. Has anyone team failed more than GS in attempting to make the playoffs every years but always failing? Most teams are either rebuilding or trying to win. Golden State is always trying to win, but they can't even get in the playoffs as an eight seed. Then they make lateral moves for longer contracts. Terrible Terrible Front office.

Lakers could have traded a #1 for Beasley a few weeks ago. That would have been a great win. Hill I see as someone who wil be waived. I am not sure they want to keep him on the books. The only thing the Lakers got was Sessions. But at the cost of 2 first round picks and Fisher. It might not be worth it over all. Only time will tell.

Said this in another thread, but Hawks are easily losers because they did nothing, sold a 2nd round draft pick. Lol

You don't think he's gonna shoot less and more efficiently in a more controlled setting? Everything about Washington was in disarray.. hell when I saw them play live you could just see that dudes like him and Crawford were allowed to shoot horrible shots any time they wanted. Won't be the same in LA.
Plus he's coming home so that's nice.
Also about the Nuggets, I like it. McGee is stupid.. but he has HUGE upside. Nene was an injury risk, always hurt, and they get McGee, a true center with loads of potential.. and hell he's not even one of those guys averaging 3pts 4reb where you say he has potential. Even with all his dumbassness and the team that is the Wizards, he was averaging 12/9/2.5 in only 27 minutes. Hopefully coach and change of scenery straighten him out.
Also.. trading Nene helps them re-sign Chandler, who is amazing.

Nothing tops giving up a top 3 protected 1st rounder for a guy who could potentially opt out next summer in a desperate attempt to hold on to your franchise player who could (and will likely) also walk next summer as well. I've said it before and I'll continue to say it until he demonstrates otherwise, Prokhorov is a F'ing idiot as is his FO puppet King.

McGee's numbers are deceptive. He plays an erratic brand of basketball. The only brand he knows how to play because he will never learn the simple fundamentals of the game. GM's who don't regularly watch the Wizards will potentially see something due to the position he plays but I'm sure Washington's GM right now is ecstatic to dump him for an actual player who has a grasp on how to actually play basketball.
The verdict is still out on the Young to Clippers deal though. He will never be more than what he already is but maybe he can come in handy for them as an outside shooter who understands his role.

Re: Trade deadline winners and losers
As a Wizard fan, I am in the minority. I think the Wizards took on a horrible contract for an injury-prone C who isn't as good as the up and comers at PF and C in Denver. The Nuggets won, because they don't care what McGee asks for. I also believe George Karl will us Javale the same way he used Birdman Anderson. McGee can't miss next to Faried. It's just like KMart with Birdman.
I think the Lakers were huge winners. You kept your core together and addressed the real problems. Your team acquired young legs and players who defend. Mike Brown already knows and likes Eyenga. When Washington beat LAL I thought that your perimeter defense needed work and Kobe's legs are going to go if he keeps playing too much. You are going to love Ramon Sessions. Eyenga and Hill are freak athletes who provide energy. Most of all, your team got rid of dead weight.
I think the Clippers got a SG for free. Young was finished in DC, but I expect he will come up big for the Clips when it matters.
I like the Spurs getting a guy they went to the championship with in what is probably Duncan's last hurrah. Kawhi Leonard is coming on and they really don't need much from Stephen Jackson except gravitas. Unlike Richard Jefferson, Stephen Jackson has a lot of heart and he plays with a swagger. Watch out for SA.
I'm really excited. The West got better.
