^ He also doesn't have any guaranteed money coming in anymore. It's one thing to fire away when you're getting an MLE-type salary no matter what. It's another thing when you're fighting for your NBA livelihood. He has to do what he has to do to stay on the roster.
But to Kev's point, once he's signed for the rest of the year and knows he's going to get minutes...

Even if he's signed, I'd figure they'd have 3 PGs for insurance. If Rose is back and healthy, James is fighting for backup minutes. He could still end up deep bench or inactive list if he doesn't toe the line. We'll see.

Re: Tracking Former Wizards 3.0
Im Interested In Seeing McGee & NY
its always interesting to see guys go to new situations, espically when you talk about going from a top 5 bad team to a playoff team. Karl could maybe kill McGee or he could easily be the best thing to happen to him. A top notch coach who doesnt play around. He's still never been coached well like he will be in Denver and not only is he going to a good team but he's going to one of the most perfect teams in the league for his style of play.
He could struggle bad somewhere in a slow plodding halfcourt system but Denver will run non stop and he will be getting alley oops all day. The altitude may be bad for his Asthma but I think he will be more of a finisher there and do some exciting things. Even if he sucks, Im just going to be interested in seeing him playing on a good team and watching him in the playoffs. Isnt that crazy to think about?
Then you have NY in the same situation. The biggest gunner, selfish, low IQ player in the leauge but again going to a perfect situation. Going back home to LA. There is not a team he'd rather play more for besides the Lakers who just happen to play in the same building. Then just like McGee he's going from a bad team to a playoff team. Clipps may not run like the Nuggz but they ran pretty close so he's in a perfect system.
Also I think you could see the best NY. Still for all his dumb selfish play, he's one of the most prototype SG's in the league and if you combine that with him not wanting to look dumb since he's playing on a good team who will be on TV all the time and you combine that with playing with great IQ players like Paul, I think he could look alot more efficient. I think he will eventually when the starting spot and can you imagine watching him in the playoffs this year matching up in a 7 game series against Kobe?
Im just looking forward to watching that, wether they both suck or thrive. I will be very interested in seeing it. The same with the Wiz & Nene but most of that will start next year for me. We only have like 25 games left and we will both know more about Nene's age, game, and knees next year with a fresh season. We'll know more about our new coach, system, lotto pick, and if Dray comes back looking in shape for the 1st time ever with all the new stuff going on or will he be amnestied(if not traded)

Nick is called a knucklehead, but he wisely had a no-trade clause. Instead of possibly not playing much behind Afflalo or Gallinari, Nick forced a trade to where he can succeed. LAC needs him.
It is ironic to me that LAC has Caron Butler, Randy Foye, and now Nick Young.
"This is just a great feeling," Young told the South Bay Daily Breeze. "I can't even tell you how excited I am. To be coming home and to be playing on a great team like the Clippers, it doesn't get any better than that."
It's likely Young will eventually take over the starting guard position opposite Paul and force Foye back to the bench.

As Thursday's trade deadline approached, it appeared the Clippers were going to stand pat and wait until the offseason to make additions. All of their key moves were already made before the start of the season. They signed free-agent forward Caron Butler, claimed Billups on waivers and traded for Paul, who has elevated them to contender status.
Those three players, plus Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, made the Clippers one of the Western Conference's strongest entries. But the loss of Billups was immeasurable. Since he went down, the Clippers haven't won more than two games in a row and have lost several close games.
Now, as they approach the last month and a half of the regular season, they have a scorer who can help take the offensive burden off Paul and Griffin.
Young won't make Clippers fans forget Billups, but he can give them something they need right now: points.
It is ironic to me that LAC has Caron Butler, Randy Foye, and now Nick Young.

Javale must have liked being in DC more than I thought. His mother's comments when a long way to getting him traded IMO. I think he's going to be much better off, but I've said that 1,000 times already, I know.
Denver will re-sign Wilson Chandler now that they removed Nene's contract from their books.
"I'm definitely excited about coming to a playoff team, but it's definitely bittersweet," McGee said by phone. "But I'm just excited about getting some wins. I'm definitely a hard worker. I'll try to help the team win as immediately as possible."

I tend to think Javale will only expand his game and become a complete player after he gets some space from his mother. Not the most analytical statement, I know, but he needs to gain perspective on who he is and what his game needs, not simply go along with what Pam says those things are.

NY is about to make his debut for the Clips at 3:30. In other news, Turiaf just got released. I could see a playoff team like the Heat or some other team looking for some beef picking him up

Nick not so hot in his debut so far.
Shooting 1-6 FG, 5-6 FT with 7 points through 3 1/2 quarters. Also, 1 assist, 1 steals, 2 PFs.
Clips are -10 in 18 minutes with the Kid Cinammon on the court.
Bad day to come in cold but he is getting to the line. If Nick gets one to drop he will be good the rest of the game.
Clips are going to go small and have Nick at SF with Paul and Foye at Gs.

What other kind of jumper does Nick take or make?
New acquisition Nick Young scored nine points and played most of the late minutes in his debut with Los Angeles, which hadn’t won consecutive games since Feb. 15-16.
Young, a Los Angeles native and USC product, wore No. 11 in his first game since arriving in a trade with Washington. The Clippers could use offense after losing Chauncey Billups for the season to a torn Achilles’ tendon, and Young immediately got started on his new job by making an off-balance 20-footer shortly after checking in to start the second quarter.

Re: Tracking Former Wizards 3.0
anyone see Gil last night? Best Ive seen him look since he was healthy. He is so good. He's turned into such a great pure PG. He can get any guy an easy shot in the lane all day and his vision is top notch. To me Gil may have been the most talented player in the NBA, atleast Offensivley but he had a low IQ at times and never put it all together at the same time.
He was a great post player but never took advantage of it enough. Even before the injury he had started settling big time for long J's when he was so great at attacking and getting teams in foul trouble. Most of all he would always say that he's not Nash and stuff like that. Meaning he was just a scoring type. Then he got hurt that one time, we won alot of games without him, and he learned the game more.
When he came back his passing & PG skills went up times 10 but by then his athletic ability had left him. I believe he can still be a dominant PG and when I say dominant, I mean the best Offensivley. I think Hollins wont start him because he doesnt want to throw a wrench into things but by time the playoffs get here, he will be playing alot and no one wishes an injury but if Conley went down then no one would be upset.
They got him because there 2 young backup PG's suck and even Mayo has struggled but after last night all the Grizz fans said that Gil found Gasol more times in the paint in 5min than Conley has in 5 years. He was making it look so easy. You cant tell by the stats but he had like 5 other passes that led to guys shooting FT's and Gasol or others missed a couple of easy ones because you could tell they werent use to them. He's going to be good.
Alot of Grizz fans were against the move and even they were shocked by how good he looked and now want him to take all of OJ's minutes and are saying that Conley better step up or else

I'm happy for Gil. I'm definitely gunna root for Memphis in the West. I always have and always will love Gil for all the great memories he gave us. Yeah he went bonkers at the end but I'll still remember him for the good times.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I'm not sure if you are being serious, dlts. He had 2/3/1 & 2TO's while shooting 1/4 in 12 minutes?

Clippers are winning the championship this year. Teams with so many former Wizards always do.
Pistons with Rip/Sheed/Big Ben
Mavs with Haywood/Stevenson/Butler
Now the Clips with Butler/Foye/Young

That is the secret formula isn't it.

I am happy for Caron. This guy exuded toughness during his time with the Wizards and is my second favorite Wizard ever behind Arenas.
I'll still take Hayes, Bobby D, Rulland over him but he was the one I wanted them to build around. Not Gil. I wanted Gil traded. CB and Haywood could have been the start of a core if they traded Gil and AJ while they were expiring contracts.
As I recall. That ideal was not welcomed very well on the board. Funnier is that it still might not be, even though it was clearly the right way to go. The Wizards never needed to be this bad. They could have rebuilt on the fly.

Welcome aboard. I blogged about that extensively in the past. Even posted a McGee childhood article about him getting beat when he wet his pants.
Pam was just couldn't let go of the spotlight when her time was over. Lots of examples of it. So yes. The change will be good for McGee. I doubt his mother will be sneaking into the spotlight as much in this more established organization. McGee will grow were he is. New place. Good team. No Nick. It is a better situation for him.
McGee and Nick have a better change to grow up where they went. McGee could have made it here I believe but with the contract coming due, it was bad timing to have to resign him for to much while things are still getting established.
It was a good trade for all sides.
