PG Problem Harris, Watson, Tinsley

While I like Harris as a point guard in general, I think the team is less productive with him in several ways. I don't think he's a good fit with the group of younger players that we have with their style of basketball.

From a pure basketball perspective, I would like to see the Jazz trade Harris at the end of the season, resign Tinsley for a couple of years and draft a PG if the Jazz have a top 15 draft pick. If they have two draft picks in the top 15, I might go for a PG and a PF, and trade Millsap for an SF, letting Hayward share time at both the SF and SG.

Again from a pure basketball perspective I think the Jazz need a much more balanced offense that doesn't rely on pounding the ball into Al play after play. I think the mix I mentioned would give the Jazz that and more.

From a non-basketball perspective, I'm a little cautious on Tinsley. He's had a very long history of immature behavior. hanging around with the wrong guys and attracting trouble. He's also had weight problems, been inconsistent, been a black hole from time to time and when he tried to make a comeback with Memphis, he was terrible.

He hasn't played enough with the Jazz to know if he is completely passed his slump and whether the previous problems are going to return. He hasn't gotten into any serious legal issues off the court for 5 years, and there's less trouble to hang with in Utah. In the little time he's been on the court, he's played pretty well. He's a tough one to guess the future on.

The reason I like Tinsley is because the young guys play better with a point guard who doesn't look to drive frequently and who can pass. Tinsley is a pretty good passer.

I think Watson, Tinsley and really good rookie PG could get it done for the Jazz for one or two years until the rookie PG was the number one PG.

I like Tinsley so far hes been pretty productive and can actually make a basket.

i believe tinsley is probably the best 3rd point guard the jazz have had in a long long time, maybe ever. it is good, for the teams sake, his ego is where it is at.

don't forget the palacio-mcleod era....... i think we've three good point guard, and i'm pretty satisfied with'em, plus burks can have a future at the point, and hayward had some nice flashes, too.

Bottom line, we're not in a hurry to find o pg, symply if we find an opportunity we can catch it, and if someone offers nice players-picks.... otherwise, stay put.

Now, what's the market value of devin harris? Even if he isn't a superstar, the guy proved to be a valuable contributor, even in the playoffs, he's still young and maybe the faster nba player, a good defender, a good guy, and a reasonable and expiring contract: he'll have a good value in the summer and maybe even more in the next march trade deadline.

The problem with trading Harris is that the PG position in the league is very deep right now. Most teams have a better player or prospect at PG already. And those that don't generally don't think Harris is enough of an upgrade over what they have to give up much.

Demand for Harris is fairly low. But, he'll be an expiring contract this summer. That'll give him a little more value out there. Maybe you can get something good for him then if you are willing to take on salary. I'm not so sure that the Jazz are going to want to take on salary, they might be preserving cap space for their own use. However, if you can get something good enough, you probably take it as cap space has limited value in Utah.

Tinsley makes his teanmates play. Favors, Burks and Hayward seems pretty better with him around.

Gotta say I agree. This is the second year in a row Watson has fallen off on the tail end of the season. Hopefully he picks it up again.

Watson has good pace and knows where to pass the ball, but damn can he hit a shot this year???

- Harris should run the veteran unit and Tinsley the young unit
- Tinsley/Burks/Hayward lineup should play a good amount minutes

Tinsley's rare playmaking ability and poise clearly fits great with Burks/Hayward playing the wings.
