I'm not sure people understand basketball talent if they think Arenas at age 30, having the talent he used to have, could get worse than Fisher is at age 37, outside of team chemistry issues which I can understand. It just doesn't make any logical sense to be so sure he's done, with the amt of talent he used to have, and that he's only 30 years old. Brandon Roy had no knees and he would have still been better for our team last year than Fisher. Any way you slice it it's an improvement

It's not Fish anymore though, since we got Sessions.

I'd give him a chance, but prefer an SF.. can't think of any good FA SFs though..

Now that they have a PG that can actually break past the first line of defense and distribute, the defenses will break down more and people will get better shots and our 3PT% will go up. We have pretty good shooters who aren't currently shooting that well. Hopefully Sessions will help change that. Him and GLock/Blake against smaller backcourts with Barnes, Hill, & Pau/Bynum as a second unit will be nice.

The only real hole in the lineup now is at SF. With two ball-handling threats, the SF only has to be a role player that hits that 3 ball at a better rate than what they have now. We'll see who is available during buyouts.

The most amazing thing happened! Fish is gone! Finally! Welcome Sessions. I wouldn't mind Arenas on board either.

Arenas would not be a bad pick as a backup for Kobe. I love Glock, but I can't see ourselves relying on him in the playoffs. He needs at the minimum one more year under his belt so he can be considered a reliable backup. I do hope the Lakers don't trade him. I see him being a good player in the future!

Arenas doesn't address any issue. probably shooting but that we're not sure if he still has it. I was optimistic at first with him. people are saying "if he's back to his old form then some team chould have signed him by now." in my head I'm just, "not so fast. teams are still testing the waters with the Dwight/other players' situation and don't want to exhaust their assets. probably after the deadline." would've liked him as a Laker but we don't need him now. GLock will be Kobe's back up, so as Eyenga (don't touch Kobe's number 8 man). we're lucky to have two capable SF in the roster but problem with both is consistency. I agree that we need that one wing player to contribute offensively. Posey is intriguing since he can play at both ends. wasn't utilized much in Indiana since they have a lot of young, athletic wings. if not Posey then probably Al Thornton or Chris Douglas Roberts?

If i remember correctly Posey can hit the three pretty well right?
wasn't he the one that crushed us in the finals of 2008 against the Celtics?
correct me if I am wrong. If he can hit the wide open three better than anyone in our team, i would pick him up!

BOBBY SIMMONS

Post#31 » by thegamefritz » Fri Mar 16, 2012 2:03 pm

Bobby Simmons who was signed by the Clips could have been a great SF for us.. Like the 3rd SF esp. if MWP is out of his head and Barnes will have off nights!

I think having Sessions, Blake, Morris, and Goudelock is enough for the PG spot. I don't see the Lakers adding Arenas now. If for some freak accident, Blake or Sessions goes out for the year, then I can see Arenas coming in.

We already have another SF on the squad, i sname is Kobe "Bean" Bryant.

Hell yeah the Lakers could still Arenas.

Arenas can play both guard spots on offense and defense.

Also, Arenas can push and challenge both Blake and Goudelock.

In my book, he'd beat out Blake within a few weeks.

terrance williams would be a nice get for lakers after missing out on beasley. he's athletic, can create his own off the bounce and he's young. maybe the mamba can tutor him...

Arenas doesn't really make sense for the Lakers, when they have a shooting guard like Kobe...

Arenas will probably not be signed because the Lakers pinch pennies and want to let guys that have larger contracts have the chance to earn their checks ... Arenas, although probably better than Blake (especially coming off the bench with pop and game changing abilities), won't be signed because like for many years when Walton's contractual presence bogged down the SF position, Kupchak will wait Blake out and allow him several opportunites to prove his contract worthy.

I love Kupchak's style on many levels, but I hate when they don't take, in my eyes, minor financial risks (vet min contracts to Arenas or Delonte West) in order to get, be, and stay ahead of the pack.

Don't need. Don't want. TWill perhaps* But right now, I would save that spot for a shooter, wing/SF. Can never have too many shooters (who can D pref).
Amat victoria curam.
