but i do think it would be nice if they honored them in some way, as others have said.

Don't retire them please. Leave it how it is.

Phil should be retired up there one day though.

Instead of hanging their jersey in the rafters maybe have an Alumni section some where in Staples center and hang Fisher, Horry, Fox, Cooper and whoever else they choose in there.

I say that's better then nothing.

I don't think Gasol is going to get his number retired.

Me neither. He's only in his 5th season with the Lakers, and the only other player who had their jersey retired after a such a short stint was Wilt. Gasol would have to retire a Laker and have a few more nice playoff runs to make up for his horrid performance last year.

I remember something about Lakers honoring Rick Fox in the game when Kobe scored 62 vs Dallas giving him some jersey or something like that.
That is probably what Fisher is going to get too and additionally perhaps a job in the Lakers franchise after he's finished that is more than enough if you ask me.

u should only retire the best 1-2 players during their dynasty run, not their entire starting line up.

So Worthy's #42 shouldn't have been retired?

Worthy is a hall of famer and was the second best player on multiple championship teams.

I think we should petition the Lakers to do like a Ring Of Honor, a design that consist of the face and number of the player that would go around the arena.

Yo bruddahmanmatt, you do realize Horry played with the Lakers longer than any other team he suited up for right ? 7 years is a long time in one city.

There should be a way to honor great role players.
I think Gasol has a good chance to get his number retired and go into the hall of fame.
Im not saying we will win this year, but if we do he is a lock in for HOF and number retired.
Bynum is still to young to know. He has a punchers chance though!
