THE SKINNY

Image
REVENGE TIME.

THE LINEUPS

Image

Point Guard
ImageImage
Whispers get louder that Collison may lose his starting job after good showings from George Hill in his return from injury and AJ Price running a smoother offense. Jeremy Lin is finding a new role under a coach that will do more to appease the superstar Carmelo, but his starting job is still safe. In my opinion, Jeremy Lin would be amazing here in Indiana (cause Deron is not coming).

Shooting Guard
ImageImage
Formerly the 1st-team rookie, Landry Fields continues to play with hustle, rebounding it at enormous rates. Formerly the 2nd-team rookie, Paul George is a real threat to any team. Both guards possess size and speed. Paul George should be able to get a good game going against the relatively weak Knicks defense.

Small Forward
ImageImage
Both players have hit game-winners over each other, with Anthony getting the best of Granger most recently. Granger found his rhythm against Philadelphia and their all-star ace defender Andre Iguodala. From a defensive matchup standpoint, Granger should be able to replicate, if not improve upon, the results from the Philly game.

Power Forward
ImageImage
David West faces a tough mark in Amare Stoudemire, who has monstrous scoring ability inside as well as great shooting outside for a big man. West should concentrate his efforts on defending the drive and rebounding.

Center
ImageImage
Tyson Chandler is the type of center that gives Roy trouble. Hibbert has to do his work early to get post position, because once he gets in, he becomes the threat that scouts highlight in their reports.

THE BENCH

Image

ImageImage
ImageImage
ImageImage
George Hill is leading the pack off the bench. As a result, Tyler Hansbrough has found better, open opportunities and the entire bench unit looks better with Hill. With the addition of Barbosa, the Pacers look to be fully stocked on the pine with a scorer every minute of the game. The Knicks have found similar depth in the scoring of JR Smith, who can get hot any moment. The Knicks bring lots of versatility off their bench, so the Goon Squad has to be ready.

THE COACHES

Image

ImageImage
Taking over as interim is Mike Woodson. He brings a larger appreciation for the veterans of the team, and looks to get Melo and Amare going early and often. Vogel has a real opportunity to take advantage of the adjustments taking place in the Big Apple.

THE INJURY REPORT

Image

Pacers
Jeff Foster: Back - Probably not.

Knicks
Bill Walker: Elbow - No.

THE HEAVY MATTERS

Image

-Togetherness. Show the Knicks that superstars don't matter if you don't win.
-Don't let anyone outside of Melo and Amare get going.

THE TRADITION

Don't think the girls lose games.

Even now, I want Jeremy Lin. He's more expendable with Woodson as coach, but is also a moneymaker for the Knicks.

Linsanity will start back up tonight if Collison is defending him.

Are you serious? Why is Collison in the NBA?

Can the Collison supporters explain to me why he gets minutes when we have MUCH better options?

Davis traveled on that.

He's 3-4 with 9 points. Keep trashing him.

Really bad timing to play the Knicks freed from the Anthoni reign now.

Where is the Allstar center when u need him?
If the best centers in the NBA are 99% focused he just isn't a match for them.

His sick work ethic isn't going to make him two steps quicker.

This is true, but DC ain't terrible both way. He can create a little bit for himself.

Everybody's playing bad today. Collison's been the only one to supply any sort of consistent offense.

What bad passes, open layups, and phantom calls?

please leave out the girls tomorrow. I'm really upset that we got caught in the new coach windstorm tonight but I'll be really upset if we can't salvage a split tomorrow. at least I had four other channels with NCAA games to watch tonight. tomorrow though I'll be at the game with no way to look away. I won't even be able to leave early as my wife and I coming into town in one car but going to separate events.

Do all Pacer gamethreads only have two Pacer fans in them and 9000 pictures of tits?

Serious question.
On October 31, 2009, against the Kings, a bat descended onto the court causing a stoppage of play. As the bat flew past, GinĂ³bili swatted the bat to the ground with his hand. He then carried the creature off the court, earning the applause of the crowd.

I will say this, I got to watch them on ESPN the other night, only the 2nd time I've been able to see them play. Now I'm not as hardcore about it as Indy was, and maybe because I was looking for it a bit, but what I saw was DC just being terrible. Losing handles, looking lost, saw jumpers just grazing the front of the rim, etc. I am in the camp of saying we can't win w/ him at PG. I want Hill there.

That's been him all season. I mean that was him for the most part of last season. I saw West yelling at him because DC threw a few bad passes to him in spots West isn't confortable with the ball. He can't play point guard. He's a horrible passer and decision maker with a weak handle. Also has an inconsistent jumpshot and too small to be a great finisher. I won't mention the liability that he is on defense.
