Our Mr. Sund is about to be defined.

Post#1 » by parson » Fri Mar 9, 2012 7:16 pm

For good or bad, this is still Billy Knight's team. It's as if he simply went out to play golf and the secretaries have been keeping the office open.

However, Sund's next moves will set his image in stone. Trade or not trade. Rebuild or augment. He'll either be the guy who fiddled while ATL burned, the boob who traded away our best players for bums, or the best GM we've ever had.

Bogut/Lopez/Nene/Gasol for Smith?
Smith for (worthless) expirings?
Smith for really good PGs or SGs who make our present players redundant?
I've made my preferences known: Center or bust, but it seems the clock is ticking and Sund will have to, soon, choose.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Bold idea: trade Horford AND Smith to ORL for Dwight Howard. They couldn't insist on trading Turkaglu in that case. We'd be offering more than anyone has - WAY more. Rumor is that the Magic insisted on Bynum and Gasol but LA refused. This is close to that demand.

THEN, we amnesty Joe and offer Josh a contract when he becomes a FA. Heh, heh, heh.

Would the ASG pay so much for a championship team? Could they argue they're not cheap if they refused?

Sorry, but...nope.

Sund is in the last year of his deal. He won't make ANY big moves unless the ASG assure him that he'll be given a new contract soon.

He'll make a move to get the Hawks under the tax, and he'll ride out the rest of the season.

Why would anybody in the world hire him with a Rip Van Winkle resume?

I think the ASG have the final say no matter what Sund attempts to do. He is probably just thankful to have the income coming in that he has because I doubt any other team in the league is going to offer him a GM position.

He has already defined himself. He is the GM that run's winning teams on the cheap but has never really won big. He is the "master of mediocrity".

He's a guy who's got one foot on the front step of his retirement home already. He's not concerned about a contract extension and definitely not another job otherwise he would have stepped up and voiced his displeasure over the ASG's meddling a while back. The most protest we got out of him were his passive aggressive remarks over Drew being hired rather than his preferred candidate, Dwayne Casey.

Save yourselves the trouble, take in a movie tonight. Spend time with a loved one. Don't worry, come back in a week even and they'd be nothing new just the same all banner hanging over our empty trophy case "We're Committed To Our Core"

"For his next act, Joe plans to actively recruit other top free agents to Atlanta, a place not unlike his hometown, where he feels comfortable and appreciated," Agent Arn Tellem wrote. "LeBron, you've already met with the front offices of six teams. How about considering the Hawks?"

   Lebron for the MLE

Sund once said Joe was top 4 or 5 Shooting Guard. $16mil at best man. He's a ball stopper and Kirk plays more inspired ball than him.

Makes me wonder why the ASG ever bought the team. But still, I just have to believe that there's some professionalism, some dignity _somewhere_ in our management's offices. Not that they have to act immediately, but surely someone is working with some kind of vision, not just trying to tread water and keep a job as long as possible.

Or ... maybe Josh is right and a smart man would bolt.

Same as your guys plan. Stand pat...with injured Horford. Lose the playoffs.

Smith asks for $15 mil (or max seeing as what McGee is asking for with no development or IQ)
Smith bolts for less money. Stand pat with healthy Horford...and Lose the playoffs.

#Our Franchise has been defined.

Post#11 » by Ruhiel » Thu Mar 15, 2012 8:49 pm

Our Franchise has already been defined.

"We have never been a taxpaying team and our goal is not to pay the [luxury ] tax," Sund said.

maybe Josh is right and a smart man would bolt.

Like the other free agents who don't come here.

Great place to live/visit. Sloppy management.

But this year, we should pay a bit of Tax.
We should never pay it unless it would be for the "right player", and we are now on the verge of paying it for Dampier

"Rick Sund, Atlanta Hawks" - bureaucrat.

Listening to Dwight Howard on NBAtv... We can never even entertain Dwight.

All he talked about ownership, ownership, ownership, ownership, and more ownership.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
