^Cutting salary can be a win too... It just takes a little time to determine. Without a basically useless Fish on the books, we have more flexibility for the near future. What we do with that is TBD.

Re: The class argument
I think we would have warmed up to a Beasley for Fish plus pick trade. Minny changed their mind and this trade was not nearly as good and I think a real negative for the Lakers as we gave up Fisher's clutch 3 point shooting and a pick for a kid I don't think will have any more impact than McBob or Murphy.
If the trade isn't a for sure win talent wise, it is very hard to move an iconic player (that just happens to have not miss a single game since coming back to LA in 2007). Fish gave everything he had and then some.

Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Re: The class argument
An NBA team's first loyalty is to their fans first and foremost. I'd say an organization taht tries to apease its players at the cost of their fans being happy (by winning) is the true organization with no class. Players are expendable, it's fans that matters, and trading to make your team better is what should be the priority.
