Amnestying Darko, waiving ARs hold(I doubt we would do that, Kahn still seems to like his potential), waiving Beasley's hold puts us at $44,129,207, again not adding in capholds for roster spots...so adding around $1.5m to that leaves us with $45,629,207 in committed salary if we just flat out cut Martell and Brad Miller. Waiving the capholds of AR/Beasley(giving up bird rights to match a contract), and amnestying Darko.

I highly doubt Webster's team option is declined. Miller also has a team option but I'm fairly certain he will be let go. I also doubt we keep AR, Tolliver, or Beasley. I think with keeping Webster that will leave us with what, 9-10 million? We could always offer a contract to Mayo, as I doubt the Grizzlies will match a higher salary contract since they have so much money tied up to their starters.

I haven't found a clear answer but I'm pretty sure the salary still counts on the books after a player retires. My guess is he will retire, they will waive him before his final season becomes fully guaranteed, and they will hire him as an assistant of some sort.

I believe it counts the year following retirement, then is off the books the year following that (2 years later). I can recall reading this when Roy was contemplating retirement and POR was on the fence as what to do as far as using the amnesty clause.

From how I interpret Coon, if the Timberwolves expected Miller to honor his contract and he plain said that he'd rather retire than play it out, he would be allowed to retire without us paying him and without it counting against our cap. If the Wolves aren't willing to risk Miller actually playing for his full contract amount, their only option seems to be to pay the partially guaranteed amount.

Remember when McGrady and some other players protested practice? I would rather not see anyone potentially undermine Adelman especially when they don't have any talent to justify the risk.

Think the Grizzles could use a player like Barea? I was reading that they have interest in Gilbert Arenas for his scoring and playoff experience. Wonder if Kahn still has interest in Mayo and could pull off a S&T to send Barea + own pick back. Not that Mayo would be my first option, but if Batum is a lock to stay in Portland (almost certain he is), I think he could go in that direction.

It seems to me like a no-brainer that we'll be waiving his $7M+ cap hold and not offering him his $4M+ QO. I could see us maybe eventually offering him a deal in unrestricted free agency, but it would be a budget deal and only after we've decided we have no better use for the cap space.

OJ Mayo and Jeff Green? I'm thinking 6 - 7 mil a year to start w/ standard raises, 2 yr contracts with a player option for the 3rd year. These are 2 guys that could be making more, but probably won't b/c of circumstances. Wolves can offer them what nobody else can: starting spots and Ricky Rubio to help them reach their full potential so that in 2 years they can opt out and try to land a big contract, or the security to opt in at a decent salary that 3rd year

^^ Lee is someone who I've always thought was underrated. Good defender, athletic, good shooter and still fairly young.

I'm not sure on Jeff Green. He seems to be a tweener. He's not very good at SF or PF, seems like he may not even be a better player then Marvin Williams really.
