Our weak front court will cost us the rings.

Post#1 » by RexBoyWonder » Sat Mar 17, 2012 5:03 pm

i wrote this in the reserve Big Man thread but i think this issue is important enough to get it's own thread.

RexBoyWonder wrote:i just posted this in the Denver forum :

Hey guys i was wondering if u guys would consider a trade of :

Chris Bosh + your pick of Mike Miller/James Jones/Noris Cole

For

Kenneth Faried + McGee ( after u sigh him long term in the summer)

Would u do that trade?

what do u guys think about this trade? i think it would make us a much more balanced and better team. Kenneth Faried and McGee arnt as good a scorers as Bosh but we desperately need what the'll give us inside : rebounds, toughness, blocks and easy grabage points. i would do this trade today if i could.

Mcgee could seize his potential in our system, and Faried is a young, ready now, athletic PF with a lot of upside.

i like bosh but he's not a ggod fit to this team. both those guys are better rebounder and shot blockers than him TODAY, and both will get better with us.

our front court is just not championship caliber. soft PF + no rebounding Center = no rings.

never in the history of the league a weak front court like ours won the ship. even the MJ Bulls had much more then what we currently have up front.

the real mistake was getting Bosh and leaving the C spot empty. Bosh is a very good player and person, i like him alot. but his game is just a bad fit. his best strength is scoring, and im talking outside the paint scoring. that's not what a team with Bron and Wade needs from their Big Man. they need a big that will be a strong inside presence - one that will finish strong around the rim, get garbage points, put backs, blocks, hustle and mostly rebounds. sorry - that's not Bosh and he will never be that. his scoring abilities are underutilized on this team, they have to be beacuse he's playing with 2 better scorers then himself.

he's a better player overall then Mcgee and Faried, but they are a much much better fit with our team.

plus we get 2 legit starters for 1 starter and one underutilized bench guy.

maybe im just beeing pessimistic but i dont see a rotation of Joel/Dex/Bosh/Ud geting us a ring unless both Wade and Bron just totally go off in every single playoff series. to me - we need a miracle.

I understand what you're saying in a way. Wade & LBJ joined so they won't have to play awesome every game to win, but due to Bosh's inconsistency they seem to have to

Bosh is not being used consistently and he doesn't have plays made for him. He is treated like an ordinary player not a branch of the Big 3. He was on fire when Wade was out due to injury but after the return of Wade, he is completely forgotten. He is far away from the Bosh of Toronto. We should rely more on him. Also somehow we should make Curry or Pittman active, cause Joel is so useless in the offensive end.

I see Chris Bosh get open shots every night and shoot bricks...
I see Chris Bosh get the ball in the post and it leads to turnovers just like it did several times versus Philly on Friday night... Chris Bosh wasn't though enough in the finals either when it came to goin in the paint and making a mark... Rebounding wins championships something Phil Jackson & Pat Riley always had and that's why they won rings in this league...

Bosh is again sucking it up out there...

He needs to get more pick and rolls and get to the basket.

Bosh right now only getting to the line 5 times a game...last year, 6 times

This was an issue last year, only we did have real Centers, but they were as hell and didn't fit our style.

We have Centers, but they have to lose all their weight first and get some experience/rust off and there's too little time to even do that... so much for giving Curry burn every game atleast, but Pittman apparently is in better shape than him.

If we don't get this fixed, it will. I know LeBron and Wade, their talent can overcome it. We've have times where we did, especially in the ECF, even yesterday in Philly (despite a 29 point lead, but when it got to rebounding, Philly went after it and we didn't).

Bosh is our only hope and he is the Center at the end of games. But right now he is sucking so bad and I don't remember a stretch where he was this bad last year. He is acting like a role player. Only getting 5 rebs a game since the ASG, UD is 6'8 and won't outhustle the best for rebs (his rebs have gone down too since ASG).

Last year in the Finals, besides other factors, rebounding was a factor when it mattered. Think people remembered game 6 where we were trying to make a comeback but they kept getting offensive reb after offensive reb. And not just Chandler, it was Marion. It's all about effort (and timing), even people Joel's size rebound better than him.

Next year we might draft another Center (and hopefully use him... this year's draft looks good).

Kind of OT, but for those of you who did not know, Curry's weight dropped below 300 lbs a few days ago. Progress?

That's great but the dude never gets playing time and is a foul machine like Pittman. He has to start playing every night for a few minutes to get into some kind of groove man...

what sucks is he was never a great rebounder, if he was working with Zo that'd be cool lol.

I'd like to see him in a game where it isn't garbage time. It's amazing he played against the Lakers, but everything else, garbage time. He sucked defensively too, but the last time he came out he looked faster.

The ONLY reason we ever lose to the Bulls is rebounding and interior defense.

Dalembert, NENE, Przybilla, kenyon Martin. All those PF. C's that didn't choose us. BIG blow.

In my opinion, giving up 3s is correctable. But you cant teach height and we are small.

Like i said, Bosh is not the best player in the Big 3 but he is really the key. I like the fact that, we have been using Bosh more than the average in last two games.

Less Earthquakes in the East coast because of this fact.

I've always said the same thing. I like how Joel plays on the defensive end, but he's too short and incompetent on the offensive end. Defensive rebounding is still one of our team's biggest weaknesses along with defending perimeter 3-pointers consistently. Imagine if Dalembert had signed with us, we would have two defensive minded centers, but Dalembert would've been able to secure more defensive rebounds and score points.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

I've voted option #2. I refuse to believe the Heat won't win a championship in the next 3 years. It would be the biggest FAIL in Nba history.

But it would prove some of the foundational theories behind basketball regarding positions and their importance.

Lebron & Wade (Lebron especially) have transcendental abilities that make labelling their position almost redundant. Both are capable of doing anything a specialist is supposed to do at almost the same level of caliber but they can't be 7'0 and big, so they can never quite fill that void at the C.

It's just a shame that Bosh is so soft for a PF. He's great, but his rebounding and post-up ability is not anything to die for and he's 6'10 and athletic. If Bosh was replaced by Gasol or Chandler the Heat would be runaway favourites to take the championship home.

The Knicks encountered the same problem by hoping Carmelo Anthony or a specialist SG could masquerade as a PG earlier in the year. They get a PG and all of a sudden the Knicks start operating like a well-oiled machine. Same as the Lakers with Sessions, fans have been clamoring over the guy and he's just an average PG.

Yea..good post chales_zed.

listen, the big 3 are all good, but they dont maximize or compliment each other abilities at all. this team is very good and very exciting but it's not built like a championship team should be.

I'd do the trade suggested in the first post TODAY if i could.
