Thing is, Welcome2jungle, in one move, Billy King took the Nets out of the draft AND free agency.

If you worried about Deron Williams leaving you shouldn't be you don't need a great point guard to win in the NBA... Just need a good point guard and it's alot of them that are free agents at the end of the year... Look at the teams who won the championship recently most of them had good point guards not top 5 point guards in NBA... All the Nets need is rebounding & toughness look at the Indiana Pacers that's all they have basically with one legit scorer being Danny Granger look at they team performance.. New Jersey Nets is gonna be one of the few organizations willing to spend and go into the luxury tax... NBA teams are scaling back their spending coming next year you will see that.. Gerald Wallace was a great pick up by Billy and not a panic move he brings toughness something lacking from the squad right now.. Free agency will be very open window for Nets that market they will be in will attract good quality veterans...

Every team over the past twenty years have had a top 5 player on their team except one, the Detroit Pistons. So...you may not need a top 5 point guard, but you sure as heck need a top 5 player on your team.

There is no evidence of the Nets being willing to go into the luxury tax yet. And to assume that they are willing, even though teams like the Lakers and the Celtics and even the Heat aren't going into the super luxury tax either shows otherwise.

And yet, the Nets still could have gotten Gerald Wallace for a lot cheaper than the team ended up paying. Go figure. Paying more than you need to is stupid, and in this context, a complete panic move.

What value does Flynn have, though? Didn't they turn down his option? Isn't he an UFA this off-season? They probably wanted pure cap space.


And, Vince, do you remember Demends perspective on things? The dude was all about winning now, right? But even he couldn't have liked this trade, right? RIGHT?!?

Billy King must know Deron is staying in the summer.

If we play some decent ball there's a chance of us making a run for the playoffs & Portland get a late lotto pick. But next year king must know Deron will be here along with a fit Lopez etc.

If he didn't know what Deron is doing in the summer he is a nutter & should be fired. We could've picked up assets for him & quickened a rebuild while holding on our pick.

If we luck out & get a top 3 pick & Deron walks, we're screwed, next years pick will be gold dust for Portland.

I still think theres more to the deal than what were seeing, it's just to stupid.

On a side not Green is to sign over the weekend I read on twitter.
