Draymond Green with an NCAA tourney triple-double. I know it happens, but the only ones I can remember are Dwyane Wade's and Marquis Daniels'. Daniels didn't turn out to be much of a pro, but I knew he should have been drafted.
Green might not fit the Wizards at all, but he belongs in the NBA.

.WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Wizards introduced Jan Vesely in a press conference on Monday, and it was clear that everyone involved in the organization was thrilled that he was a member of the team. Vesely was someone the Wizards had scouted for the last few years, according to coach Flip Saunders, and they were very enamored with his game.
"This is a pick that both Flip and the front office and Ernie were unanimous on," owner Ted Leonsis said

Is Ted even smart enough to realize that his entire front office needs to be fired?

Interesting. I wonder if he has intel that suggests that Barnes is no longer that appealing to our front office.

Or that Forde's assuming Ernie is gone and is going with chalk?
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft - Part II
Loved Royce White's defense against the alley oop vs KY, at least twice climbing the ladder to swipe away the attempt. Once he got hit for a foul but replays suggested it should have been a legal play. I only wish he'd been forcefed underneath a little more as it was clear he was the stronger of the two when matched one on one with Anthony Davis.
I guess Hoiberg liked posting him at the top of the key to draw the KY Bigs out of the paint, but still, lack of great ballhandling on the perimeter has robbed Royce of the moneymaking offensive stats even while it inflated his assist totals. (And turnovers).
Pretty sure he'll be my CCJ special: overlooked (by the Wiz) player that I'll wear around my neck like an albatross, stopping every passerby to insist that he should have been the one. Even if his anxiety issues prevent him from succeeding, I'll probably mumble my 'what shoulda happened' scenarios to myself. Something about that kid that I like.

Yeah, I was very impressed with White too. He is as strong as an ox. He may as well have been a brick wall to Davis. Davis couldn't even move in the half court set.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Errrr one of them is a stud.
Draymond Green and Drew Gordon also did not disappoint. Green got a triple double. Gordon showed he's possibly the best rebounder in this draft. I have to start giving Dion Waiters and possibly Scoop Jardine a closer look. Cody Zeller should go top 5 iMO. He is going to be an NBA all star, eventually. I like that he can score inside without going to the half hook, like his brother. Zeller is already a complete player and he's only freshman.
One or two guys I didn't know about are really good. CJ McCollum destroyed Austin Rivers. Andrew Nicholson looks absolutely terrific.
I cannot wait to see Creighton vs UNC tomorrow. I have been saying McDermott is better than Barnes. I wonder if McDermott will be intimidated by the guy he went to HS with. Will Barnes go off? if my read of things is true, McDermott will get his against UNC. Henson is a great defender, but UNC is going to have to concede the three. The Bluejays beat a solid Alabama team. I expect a good game.

MKG is the perfect EG pick. Athletic with excellent measureables and no jumper.

Not even close. He needs to be able to create his own shot much better than he can do now to be anything more than a role player in the NBA.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft - Part II
Just checked the league standings, and am encouraged. Current draft lotto slotting:
(1)Charlotte 7 wins
(2)Washington 10 wins
(3)New Orleans 11 wins
(4)New Jersey 15 wins
(5)Sacramento 15 wins
I've been worried that we were going to make a late season run and drop in the standings. I didn't realize we have 5 less wins than the fourth worst team. Looks like we should be 3rd in the draft lotto at worst.
If we are 3rd in the lotto, we will have the following chances at each pick:
1st overall: .156
2nd: .157
3rd: .157
4th: .226
5th: .265
6th: .040
That equates to:
31 percent chance at a top 2 pick
47 percent chance at a top 3 pick
70 percent chance at a top 4 pick.
Not bad, although I still don't trust EG with the pick.

I haven't checked back through previous posts to see if he's been mentioned a lot, but it seems like Royce White is flying a little under the radar. The guy looks like thew truth to me. Granted he's a bit undersized to play PF in the NBA, but I think he has the skill set to be able to play the 3. He reminds me a little of Ron Artest when handling the ball and I think he'd be a great fit if he decides to come out. He's not the greatest athlete but the guy's combo of strength, and BB IQ make up for it. Outside of the laptop theft thing he also seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulders too.

Spoken like a scout who saw Faried dominate all four years and who said he is too short to play PF, and that Faried cannot create his own shot.
Crowder at SF will out rebound his counterpart. If left open he has three point range. Crowder playes with what is starting to be categorized as a skill: Energy/high motor.I agree that he's likely a role player, but I think he's a sure bet to be a good role player. It wouldn't shock me if he starts somewhere, right away.
What does MKG do better than Crowder right now? I realize there is a 4-yaar age gap, but I think that makes Jae ready to step in and contribute immediately in the NBA.

Excellent slasher and ball-handler as a 3. Terrific rebounder and seems to have all the intangibles.
He's a very good prospect, and would fit perfectly on a team with a 1 and 2 that can stretch defenses. Unfortunately, the Wizards have no 2 and their 1 doesn't even bothering shooting 3s anymore.

Are you surprised that GTown is losing? I'm not. The Hoyas are playing a very good Marquette team--that's ranked in the top ten--on their homecourt on senior day. I'd love to see Gtown win...but, to tell the truth, I wasn't expecting them to win today. I certainly don't see it as reflection of how they'll perform in the tournament.
Money in the bank, GTown bounced early Again!!!

Good year for the Hoyas. Yeah, I'm disappointed they didn't win today, but this year's team of primarily freshmen and sophomores excelled beyond most people's expectations (including my own) and there's a great future to look forward to thanks to Porter and Wittington, who will be joined next year by Oak Hill Academy's D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera, one of the top guard prospects in the USA.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft - Part II
CJ Leslie is making a little name for himself in the tournament. He has no position in the NBA yet but he has a lot of potential. I'd like to see him stay another year and choose which position he wants to develop in.
Dion Waiters is the best shooting guard in college basketball and if you don't believe it ask him.

He doesn't wow me with anything. He's a two way player and he's really effective on both sides of the court. Due to his physical limitations I'm going to predict he'll be the Kenneth Faried of this upcoming draft. A player during his rookie season where it becomes obvious he's going to be better than a lot of players drafted ahead of him.

Speaking as the person who pumped up Crowder here last year and before anyone had him even as a second round pick, MKG has much better defensive ability, and much better ability in transition, penetrating, and finishing. Crowder can be a good all-around role player, while MKG - who's still a Kidd - could develop into an all-star caliber player.
