Wow @ being so low on Kemba, dude is better then DJ right now, and is most definitely better then Rookie DJ.. give him a full off season before trading him for a bag of peanuts. How is Kemba crap and not garbage in human form Matt Caroll?

Not sure if serious
Rookie Kemba PER 15.4
Rookie DJ PER 14.95 (Despite playing on a more 'loaded' bobcats team)
DJ with 3 years of development PER - 14.7 DJ is the definition of mediocrity
Human Sweage Matt Caroll - PER 5.9

Lillard is a lottery pick. How does that equate to a bag of peanuts? Go look him up. He's the real deal.

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread
Kemba has just had a bad year, at least so far his college scoring has not translated... Seeing as he is under 6' and does little else, there is not much to be high on. For me personally what has been most disappointing is the bad shooting fundamentals he has.

prolly gonna come off as a homer with my name and all (not even a Kemba fan till we drafted him lol) but his shooting numbers wouldnt be so terrible LATELY but he is forced into taking some really bad shots. i think he has cut out a lot of the bad shots he was taking early in the shot clock this season but now he takes so many off balance end of shot clock crap shots or half court launches at the buzzer its just killing his shot. he took 7 shots last night and i think at least 3 of them were crap he had to throw up at the end of the clock

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread
The really troubling thing is that he hasn't got any better as the season has gone on. He's pretty much the exact same Kemba today as he was when he played his 1st game for us.
His splits month to month show him shooting around the mid 30's every time.
His assists month to month show him connecting on around the 3 or 4 every time.
His FTA's month to month show him taking around 3 every time.
Even when he had the chance to be our starting PG for those dozen or so games his stats were pretty much the same (shooting around mid 30's, 4 apg, 4 FTA's).
He's really looking more like a combo guard 6th man energy type off the bench who needs to take much fewer shots (because his conversion rate is so poor).

thats the thing, i dont consider the #12 pick in 2012 a "bag of peanuts".

yes, he took at least 3 shots at the end of the shot clock last night, which has been a reoccurring theme with him this year. a few thoughts on that:
why does kemba keep getting stuck with the ball at the end of the shot clock? is it because he pounds the ball too long not creating anything so he either has to jack up a bad shot or by the time he does get rid of the ball the team isnt in good position and it comes right back to kemba. both would be a direct result of kemba's poor play as a point guard. i dont see dj (constantly getting stuck with the ball at the end of the shot clock. and i dont believe in the argument that its because he plays with worse players than dj, because mully and white are better offensively than thomas and biyombo.
also, while his fg% is dire, thats not what bothers me about kemba. what bothers me is god awful jumpshot. he has zero consistency on his form. none of his shots look like they are going in based on his form. i am usually surprised when he makes a shot outside 5 feet.
the only way kemba is going to make it as a starter is to turn that jumper into an automatic weapon. if he can't get to a point where he is money on that mid range shot then i just dont see how he can survive. his natural point guard skills are weak and his size is a problem to play off the ball.
i havent seen much from him to suggest he will ever be much more than a good 6th man on a playoff team.

fixing that form on his J is what would make him starter quality for his entire career, IMO. everything else is in decent shape, and i think the turnovers will lessen a bit with time. he's already a pesky defender, OK/mediocre distributer, and very quick in transition.

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread
Kembas averaged 4.4 assists in 22 mpg this month. I dont think saying hes responsible for himself having to take bail out shots because his inability to create holds any weight considering he plays in an offense designed to take the ball out of the PGs hands anyway. We run a high post offense and when that high post fails as it usually does, its Kembas job to clean up. DJ faces the same thing, thats why he isnt consistently a 8apg+ PG and his numbers fluctuate alll over the place daily.

I forgot to share this earlier. Yay or nay?
I'm not that down on Kemba at all. My main problem is the notion that since we have him, we need to let DJ go. This revolving door at point guard is simply wasting draft picks. If Augustin gets some absurd offer, then sure, let him walk. Otherwise he needs to be back in a Bobcats uniform. I read a quote from him talking about turning the Bobcats into the Thunder, so maybe he isn't dying to get out of Charlotte like it's been suggested.

I've been saying since before the draft that Kemba's ceiling is Brandon Jennings

Stun, you know I'm the biggest DJ hater, but the rookie DJ actually played VERY well. Sophomore DJ is when he flushed himself down the toilet and lost his confidence.
The jury is still out on Kemba. I told you before this season started that Kemba will struggle because he basically has to learn how to be a point guard on the NBA level with little to no practice time. This was the worst season for a rookie like Kemba to join the NBA. Right now he's still learning, and it's hard to feel confident on the court when you're thinking too much.
I'm not ready to give up on the kid, and will wait to pass judgement on him until he gets a full off season of practice time running the point.

And, that is exactly what i've been preaching on BCP even before we drafted him, but the Kemba loyalists have been advocating for him to be our future PG when MJ trades DJ(apparently).
DJ is a better point than Kemba. Kemba is suited to a 6th man role just like Jason Terry and there's nothing wrong with that.

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread
Rookie DJA was actually pretty good, but his 2nd year was awful. Kemba is arguably having a better rookie season than DJA did (except for shooting %'s). So, I guess nothing is definitive in the DJA vs Kemba argument, you can play a ton of what ifs like:
What if Kemba had a training camp? Would his percentages be so bad then?
What if Kemba didn't have awful teammates to play with in the 2nd unit?
What if DJA didn't have a timeshare with Felton?
What if DJA didn't have confidence destroyer Larry Brown as his first coach?
Etc.

So when the player performs well, it's on him. When the player performs poorly, it's either on the coach and/or the crappy teammates.
Makes perfect sense.
