Well, I would be a bit nervous having a coach who has history of destroying point guards.

But, Kemba plays hard on defense though. Tough to say. One thing is for sure, Nate is not going to tolerate a frontcourt that can't score in the post.
Unless a miracle happens DJA would be gone before Nate got here.

His pace has always been among the slowest, his teams haven't performed well defensively and while he's gotten wins, he doesn't really excel in any individual area as a coach. I don't think you guys would hate him at least immediately, but I think those that consider him one of the best in the game are heavily overrating his abilities.
You can only play as fast as your personnel allows, when he was coaching the Sonics with Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis, that was a fun, exciting team to watch.
Personally, my pipe dream for coaching us is Jeff Van Gundy but that will never happen. In the realm of reality, Nate McMillan is the best coach we can probably get thanks to his NC (State) ties. D'Antoni is too hollywood to come here, everyone else just sucks more or less.

Meh I'm not convinced he's done much as a coach with the exception being that one season in seattle. He's good not great, but I suppose I wouldn't blame Charlotte for giving him a chance. That said a part of me expects the market for Nate to be decent my feelings aside. He may land in NY assuming Phil stays retired.

Re: McMillan as new coach?
I'm not infatuated with him by any means, just being realistic I guess. It's all a bit premature to decide which is the best coach for this team b/c the team is going to change a lot in 1-2 years. If we land Davis to go with Biz and Gerald and have the makings of a defensive tour de force than someone defensive minded like Nate would probably fit well whereas if we end up with Lamb or Barnes or somebody like that then D'Antoni ball would be nice.
It's not like the Zen master is coming out of retirement to coach us, lol.

NEWSFLASH.
D'Antoni sucks.
Lets not let him within the Charlotte city boundary.

He was a super sixth man for Denver. I definitely prefer D'Antoni to McMillian.
Humble yourself.

Re: McMillan as new coach?
Nate would have to change his system to fit the players....problems. The direction this team is going, and i hate to say this, because i can't stand the prick, but, Pringles would actually be a better fit for this team, coaching - system wise.
Nate would be good on a veteran savvy team in contender - playtoff status.

Re: McMillan as new coach?
So, Stephen Silas has "coached" 2 games recently, the one Pops got tossed and last night (v Raps). Both games the players responded and the Cats won.
Looks like he's being groomed to take over, right? So, why doesn't Paul resign and let him take over full time on a trial basis? What's with the training wheels, diaper, protecting him?
This is pure Bobcats M.O. We argue over who the best coach would be, but Cats mgmt has already decided its Stephen Silas.

Re: McMillan as new coach?
You guys would be great if you had McMillan as a coach. He's a point guard killer because he's sort of a "perfectionist coach", meaning that he wants the offense ran EXACTLY the way he wants it, like an overbearing mentor. However he's an awesome coach and I've been wanting him for years.
In 2004-05 he made the Supersonics a contender with Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen as its best players. Reggie Evans and Jerome James was their starting front court, and Luke Ridnor was their starting point guard. They got handed by the Spurs but they were suffering with injuries. I think Biyombo and Henderson could thrive under McMillan.

He coached one more game from the start recently, didn't he? (not counting the one Paul was tossed, the Raptors one was his second if I am not mistaken)

Re: McMillan as new coach?
Stephen is 2-1 as a coach if I have it correctly, counting the Magic game Paul got tossed in. He lost the 1st game they tried the experiment with, can't remember who it was against but the effort was there but a typically bad shooting night.

Wasn't it against the Nets (the one with Deron showing he is actually their whole team)?
