UFC on FX 4 (Guida/Maynard) - June 22nd

Post#1 » by cowboyronnie » Mon Mar 19, 2012 12:53 am

Guida vs. Maynard, Franklin vs. Le added to June's UFC on FX 4 event

A pair of intriguing matchups are official for the UFC's June trip to Atlantic City, N.J., as Clay Guida meets Gray Maynard and Rich Franklin faces Cung Le.

UFC officials today announced that verbal agreements are in place for the fights, and bout agreements are expected to be finalized shortly.

Guida vs. Maynard is the night's main event and will be contested as a five-round lightweight affair.

I'm just glad Franklin's getting a light-hitting opponent. Though, back at MW???

If Griffin gets Ortiz somteimt later, I couldn't be happier.

Let these guys ride off into the sunset.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Reasonable fights to make I guess, but I see Franklin and Maynard both cruising to victory.

I guess I could see Le outstriking Franklin, but Franklin is so superior overall it would surprise me if he couldn't find a way to win.

I don't see any path to victory for Guida, which usually means the fight will be good.

I love Cung, he's always so much fun to watch.

I was pretty unhappy about how flabby he looked in San Jose when Wandy finished him.

Let's hope he picks up the jump rope a little bit more this time.

I'll take Maynard over Guida. Going back to our other thread, who does Pettis fight now?
Maybe they really are sending him to SF?

I just don't see Le with an avenue to win. Maybe he catches Franklin with a kick or something I guess, but when Le gasses/fades from damage like he did against Wand, Franklin will be there to capitalize.

Also, I feel like Guida/Maynard is the Sanchez/Ellenberger of LW.

This link from UFC.com, is saying Ace/Le is on the July 4 weekend card along with Bisping/Boetsch and Barao/Hougland at UFC 148.

I didn't watch the Le/Wandy fight live, and was told multiple times how bad he looked.
Ya, I guess he had no shot in the fight. But hell, Le put on a show. He always does. Which is why I always love to see his name on a card.

It's going to be in Jersey.

They announced four more bouts for the event today beginning with Dan Miller dropping down to the welterweight division to take on Ricardo Funch. Also, Matt Riddle will take on Luis Ramos in a welterweight bout. Jersey native Rich Attonito will face Rick Story in a welterweight clash, and Nick Catone will face Chris Camozzi in a middleweight bout.

That's a lot of Italian-Americans. Ridiculous!

Oof, they're setting Story up for an end to his slump.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

It's turned into a card with a lot musclebound bangers. There's no one with agility or speed or finesse. Just tough guys aaaaay.

When Rick Story walks out to his sweet 80's cock rock, I always tap my foot.

He's almost this guy:

Maaaaaybe a couple years too late on this, especially on Fisher's side, but this needed to happen.

Guida vs Maynard's 5, right? Gotta be or no chance of a finish. I don't think I'd even want to watch it if it were 3.

This card is the epitome of UFC over-saturation. The main event will either be great (with Clay getting KTFO) or the cure for insomnia.

Like, too much gristle? Cos I really like this. I think the top 3 fights there are all lacking (Sam Stout never ever finishes anyone, fact), potentially, but there's a bunch of interesting fights afterwards. Pearson vs Swanson will be great, I'd bet. Ross has had some really impressive fights in the past.

Steven Siler is my all-time fave fighter. That last fight was wild. Who would have guessed that a churchboy-looking kid would fight like that?

Rick Story too. All signs point to him being an insane ****, but he comes forward with abandon.

And Hioki, Brown, Miller.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.
