Donut will be fine. He is learning how to rebound and thats very very nice. Donuts problem is still his D though, but at least he started to box-out and rebound.

Probably the coach of that poland club that Donut is playing right now has been very strict about that because Donut did not look nearly as good in rebound area during the summer as he does now.

I've said it before, but I think Jonas will have so-so per game stats, and excellent per 36 and PER stats.

If Big V has a 5/5 season, this board will go nuts... The hatred will be intense.. I can see Mufasa striking back with his friends... just hope this is not like Bargs situation, its really annoying to see this board hating on your favorite player...
In this case, the hype is so high on this rookie, so Big V's fans (including me), prepare for the worst in this board if he doesnt impact in the games like we expect..

Not sure what you're talking about, Kawhi's been solid all year playing limited minutes.

He's talking about Meyer's Leonard. Uber-athletic 7 footer from Illinois. There's some guys on the draft board that consider him a top 2 pick.

If Donut is Donatas Motiejunas, you'll be surprised.

He keeps surprising me every week man. Such a fan player to watch. Cant wait till he comes over.

Mr. :

''I chuck three 3 pointers per game and getting 1.3 point per shot''
"my USG% is 2 times higher than my PER%''
"How to pay D and why I jump on every pump fake"
"I am 7'1 guy with 54 TS% and 0.03 block per minute''

Glad Mufasa is not a GM. He had that joke on his top 4, meanwhile VAL was somewhere in 20s...

I don't know how many times you saw Donatas Motiejunas live this season, but he kicked Val ass in Prokom and had pretty equal stats as Val in Vilnius. Also he's the most consistent Lithuanian player this season and is pretty much unstoppable when posting up. Val is off course bigger prospect, but D.M. can be an offensive beast in NBA and solid defender while he showed this season he's improving all aspects of his defence. Motiejunas still has some spots to improve, but to call him a scrub is bull. He has potential to be star in NBA.

Enes is a rebounding machine, dominant. If he fixes his efficiency, he will be a beast.
Oh, and manimal was a steal. How can you take Vesely at 6 and Farried at 22? 90 Jan's physical abilities were tempting I know, but still... he is so raw.

He did improved his rebounding a lot, but still, he is bad on both ends. Right now hes Andray Blatche's clone...
He moves so well, runs the floor, has good hands, can hit an occasional long range jumper, can pass if he wants to.
He is one of those guys who has talent, but just cant get it. He needs to stop thinking hes a star, fix his shot selection, his moves. Hes rather being fancy than valuable. When you look at his advanced, you may think hes some kind of defensive specialist, because why hes even on the floor then? His TS was not even in a top 140, and EL had only 200 players.

GranTank. Yes, Donut is consistent at being terrible, he has almost as much FG attempts as points... And his Euroleague season was atrocious.

D.N. had 53% of FG. That's pretty good and he still can improve that while he gets even stronger, he still has to work with his body. He was second best rebounder in whole freaking Euroleague (regular season). He was forced to create his won shot as his team is horrible. He did improve all aspects of his game and has very nice potential. No doubt he'll surprise you :)

Everything thinks, talks about VAL, cause there is nothing else to think about. New Draftee gonna take a load off Val's back.

At the time, he was 21st. in rebounds per minute. And he is 38th. ir TRB%.
Total rebounds per game is overrated stat, since he played so many minutes per game. Course it is hard to keep going while playing hard over 30 mins per game, so I give props to him. But still, his rebounding was not that great.

His FG was not 53%, it was 43.6%, which is really bad, its 20%+ lower than Valanciunas' and that says a lot...
He averaged 4.6 three point attempts per game and gad only 1.2 point per shot... Ok?
He was only 8th. best on TS% on his own team, which is 49.8%
His USG% was over 29%, meanwhile his PER% was only 13.5% (ratio wise, best NBA equivalents are Jordan Crawford and Stephen Jackson)

No one should consider his first year in the NBA to be much more than a very long training session.

He is going to struggle, often... its a fact of the game.

Joakim Noah (who most of us wouldnt mind having on our team) avg 6.6/5.6/1/1/1 his rookie season.

so a 6/6 or 6/5 season average is fine with me for JV.

I just want to see glimmers of brilliance, see if he can adapt to the NBA style of game.

I'am going to go out on the limb and say that JV will not struggle in his rookie year as near as mightely as many of you suggest. I do not think he will have to undergo the usual drawn out learning curve of the normal big man.

He will be much better than Ed in his rookie campaign and I will say he will be around a double double guy right away. This is not just homerism, I think there is something very special about this guy that we will see from day 1.
Ajinca fits the Raptors' mold as a skilled player from Europe, but has never shown any signs of succeeding at the NBA level

Can you imagine his ceilings then? He is very young and centre, he should struggle. Andrew Bynum came in to the league very young and he didn't even played. Seriously, I am pretty sure every young center, who averaged around 7/6 his rookie year is an all star by now and more.

Nothing else to back it up? Isn't he setting efficiency records in Europe?

The word "raw" just doesn't seem to apply to Val in many areas it does with most young bigs. His touch around the basket is definitely there and he has a developing mid range game that's already serviceable.

I am a noted optimist so my opinion (like most people's around here) means little but I too think he will shine next year, based on the logic that the best rookies do make significant impacts beyond 6/6, that he has shown himself capable of playing well against leading NBA big men in limited minutes (just because they are limited doesn't mean they don't count) and because his efficiency is simply off the charts and that is a reflection of skills that should translate very well to NBA (i.e. finishing, rebounding). I think he'll put up 10/8 in 25 minutes on great percentages as a rookie.

Whoa whoa you guys are missing my point...

I was just pointing out the absurdity of this particular quote

[This is not just homerism, I think there is something very special about this guy that we will see from day 1.

You cant say its not just homerisim when all you make is a homer statement.

I am a big Val fan, I have high hopes for him.. I am just tempering them.

I predict rookie averages of: 9 ppg, 7-8 rpg, 1.4 bpg. He's going to come out expected to make an impact by Casey.

Someone convince me why the hype about Jonas is about?!

Post#1139 » by Sandman88 » Mon Mar 19, 2012 7:40 pm

Not trying to hate or anything but from the clips I've seen of him, the majority of his points are open lay ups or dunks, also he doesn't really have a definitive post game or face up game. Sure he will be good defensively but I don't see what all the hype is about. I like his passion for the game and defensive intensity but he's no stallworth.
