The Derek Fisher Situation

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Sun Mar 18, 2012 8:29 pm

This is really sounding like it is ugly.

All reports indicate that Fisher has not only not reported to the team, but that he hasn't even contacted them.

Is it possible that the Rockets could make the claim that the Lakers negotiated in bad faith and seek some sort of restitution to resolve this situation? We traded for a player at a position where we could really use his services at this time while giving up a player who could at least be doing something on the floor.

Fisher has pretty much proven himself to be completely unprofessional. I don't care how sad he is about being traded from his beloved Lakers (whom clearly did not love him back  ); but this guy is the freaking president of the players union. What kind of example is this guy setting for the players he represents?

How much longer is this going to go on?

It wouldn't strike me if he demanded a trade to the Lakers using his unfortunate issue as an excuse.

What an ****. Good riddance.

I think he asked to be released from his contract from the Jazz. He was gone from the Lakers for 3 seasons. I think the Lakers signing him at the time had as much to do with placating Kobe as it did with replacing Smush Parker. There was a real roster need.

As per not reporting, I guess we're all entitled to quit. I would not strike me that the terms of the buyout were quite amicable to the Rockets. One way or the other, we're not having him on our cap next year.

I've read conflicting reports of his ability to rejoin the Lakers. Some say it can't happen until the beginning of this upcoming offseason and others say that he can't rejoin the team for one year after being traded.

...well, if they wanted him back, that is! ;)

Fisher gives up his option to get the **** out of Houston. Wondering how much was the buyout.

im just glad he won't be counting on the cap next season. good riddance...

but he is the representative for the players association, what a class act and what an example for the nba players. it does not surprise me why the nba has gone to sh!!t with a bunch of cry baby superstars. ah yes, Mr. Fisher, asked to get released from the Jazz because he wanted to go a city with better medical help for his daughter, while Houston has the best med center in the world, he chose L.A. ... He got old and useless and got traded to Houston and doesn't even show up or call. I'm glad he never put on a Rockets jersey.

By a first rounder for (my guess) under a million just makes this deal great.

Did not want him in a Rocket jersey but I just wished we used until Lowry cameback and then cast him aside like a cheap hooker.

I just hope Morey at least gave him a mental beat down then threw some money on the floor and dared him to pick it up as he walked away.

Actually old man Fisher did you guys a favor. After all is said and done, and Fisher by opting out for his 3rd year 3.4 mil for the buyout, basically gave you guys a first round pick for free. Actually, even better, Fisher opting out of all next year's money, it means Rockets were paid about $200K to receive a first-round pick. So don't hate him too much, he actually did you guys good.

When Fisher was first traded to Utah, Utahs GM (Oconner) had to fly to golden state to beg him to come. It took awhile, I think he was promised a starting job. (He started a the 2 guard all year which irritated us Jazz fans, we had dwill at the 1). Then he wanted out of the contract so he could go to the only place that could help his daugher. His words was the only place was New York, so he would either sign with NY or New Jersey or retire. So we release him and a few days later he signs with the lakers. He is a piece of crap.

I wonder what kind of excuses he'll use this time. I'm SURE they have better hospitals in Miami and OKC than in Houston.

whats really annoying is that he acts like he matters. his antics with utah, houston, etc... , he acts like he is a superstar. the audacity of mofo. i can't believe the worst starting point guard in the nba for the past few season can hold this much ego. i wish nobody would have signed his asss
