I hope Ricky is ok, but if this can quiet down most of the annoying Minny fans then good riddance.

LeBron finds 'big brother' in Hakeem Olajuwon

"He's doing fantastic," Olajuwon said. "He should (win MVP), no question about it. The statistics speak for themselves."

But Olajuwon still believes James, 27, is just scratching the surface. With some further work, he anticipates James will be even better.

"I knew he recorded everything we worked on," Olajuwon said. "I know he's practiced it. I can see that. But the comfort level, when you get into the competition, you start playing to your strengths, which is more of (an) outside (game). I see him post up. But I still see a lot of opportunities there. He's not capitalizing as much as he should. He needs more of a refresher course where he can become more comfortable. I see him (improving his post game), but he needs more time."

Chris Tomasson, Fox Sports Florida

A great article that gives a real in-depth look at the relationship between Olajuwon and LeBron.

For the last couple of summers, I've wanted DJ to pay the Dream a visit. He said it was going to happen last summer, but it hasn't happened yet. I really hope that he hooks up with him this summer. Blake too if he's not involved with Team USA. Hakeem has been the league's best big man since Kareem. There's so much that he could teach them both offensively and defensively.

He was terrible as a coach in Memphis, but that's besides the point. He was a 6'8 Forward who was never known for his post game, his defense, his rebounding, or his shot blocking ability. Now, I'm not saying he can't teach Blake and DJ stuff about understanding the game etc, but in terms of maximizing the output you get from a big man coach, I'm not going to say that he's the best choice.

I'd rather them have a season of two with Dave Hopla to be honest. While he was with the Wizards, he made Brendan Haywood a 73.5% FT shooter in 2007-2008. He left, and Haywood seemingly regressed which is the weird part and has never gotten to that level again. Caron Butler had a career high 90.1% FT shooting in 07-08 also, Antawn Jamison tied his career second best 76.1% FT, DeShawn Stevenson shot a career high 79.7% FT, Darius Songaila shot a career high 91.8% FT. Now, of course not every player on the team had a career high, but I think it is quite telling that what he was doing was effective when 4 guys had their career highs in FT shooting while he was there.

Oh and that year, the Wizards were 4th in the NBA in FT% at 78.2% after being 11th at 76.5% the previous season.

Hope the MRI says Ricky is fine.

That's tragic. I really like Rubio and what he has brought to the game. For Minny, the combination of Love and Rubio (and my man Pekovic) along with Adelman and some of the others has made them a fun team to watch in addition to potentially being a playoff team this season. I hate that they have bested us 3 times already, but they've (Minny fans) been screwed over so much over the years (i.e. Allen for Marbury, Joe Smith fiasco, Roy for Foye, etc.) that it was nice to see them catch a break. They were in the middle of a lot of trade rumors, and losing Rubio changes things. They're probably not going to move Ridnour now. Are they still going to pursue Crawford? They wanted to move Beasley for a pick and cap space, would they consider a pg with an expiring or favorable contract?

They need whatever help they can get. I don't know what the coaches are doing with our guys. Billups was the one that got Blake to try to shoot in more of a rhythm for his foul shots. What was being said before then? Why does he still have the hitch in his free-throws or shoot his jumpers as he's descending?

DJ's foul shots either look perfect or hideous, there isn't much in between. Muscle memory and discipline to shoot the same shot consistently would go a long way in his free-throw shooting. They are leaving at least 2 points at the line every game and that is if DJ could get up to around 67% and BG 75%. It would theoretically be more than that for DJ as it would mean that he would be able to play more minutes, although he'd receive less intentional fouls.

Yea, I also found it funny that it was Billups who helped him at least get out of his under 50% shooting funk that happened in the beginning of the season. Then again, Marc was a 71% FT shooter for his career, so it's not like he was a shooting guru.

Vinny was an 83.9% shooter, good, but I'm assuming he knows how to shoot himself, but maybe not so much how to teach someone else to shoot.

Chauncey on the other hand is a legendary FT shooter, no surprise that he knows a little more about FT shooting than those guys.

I don't know much about Demopoulus except that he coached for Portland and Seattle before. Severns came along with Vinny from Chicago, then there are the two former guards, Howard Eisley and Robert Pack. Just a random note that the guard position is the position that needs the least development on this team, but there's the former PG head coach, the former PG assistant coach, and the former PG player development coach Howard Eisley.

Is KAJ still with the Lakers coaching Bynum? Never-mind, hes' doing cultural ambassador stuff.

I wasn't on RealGM yesterday but I heard about Rubio. It's really a shame, I feel bad for him.

I'm actually quite relieved that all reports point to Dwight to the Nets. I would of hated him here with DIRK on the Mavs, along with Deron Williams.....

Keep him far from the west coast please.

Mike D'Antoni got fired. Wouldn't want him as a head coach, but definitely wouldn't mind him as an assistant to spruce up the offense a little. His offense is seemingly only effective with at least somewhat good PG's, so this is the perfect team for that. Won't happen, but one can dream

Sources: Howard To Play Final Option Year With Magic
Mar 14, 2012 3:58 PM EDT

Dwight Howard has told teammates and associates that he will play the option year of his contract in 12-13 with the Magic, sources have confirmed.

WFTV initially reported Howard's intentions following a meeting with the Magic.

Howard has not signed the paperwork, but he has told multiple people of his intentions.

The Nets have long been hoping to pair Howard with Deron Williams, who also can become a free agent this summer.

When can teams hire a coach? Can NY hire Sloan for example for the rest of this year? Or do they have to wait until the offseason to hire him?

Woodson will be the coach for the rest of the season. They'll probably look for a more permanent decision in the offseason.

I want Sloan for us though. :D

^agreed

I believe they can hire whenever, but best practice not to do it midseason, you'd have to change all aspects and even the asst coaches and what not, especially with 1 month left.

On hoopshype they have Sean Grande's twitter feed (don't know who he is) saying that the Clips may buy out Reggie Evans. Why would the Clips think of doing that?

I hope that's just a rumor. Reggie has done a great job playing for us. He's not the biggest guy, but I don't see why we would consider getting rid of him.

Yeah, why get rid of Reggie? Do they have some other big in mind that they want? JJ Hickson? Turiaf? Can any of these guys come in and even be as productive as Reggie?

Diaw got waived by the Bobcats. He would be a nice addition if he didn't get so fat and unable to play SF anymore.

Return to Los Angeles Clippers
