Bobby Simmons Appreciation Thread!

Post#1 » by bigball123 » Mon Mar 19, 2012 5:41 pm

I hope that the reports of us not signing him for the rest of the year aren't true. If we decide against it right away, I think that we should re-evaluate it after we get back home after this road trip. Bobby has been able to stretch the floor for our offense, and has hustled every moment that I have seen him on the court!

I talked to my Ticket Rep today & I asked him what was up w/ Simmons. My REP just stated that Bobby understood it was a business, that the Clips would re-evaluate after players had been bought out.
I think that Simmons fit nicely w/ this team & I hope that we resign him for the playoff push (IF no one falls in our lap!) b/c I think he can help us. I think Bobby did a good job auditioning for the other 29 teams and if Courtney Fortson can get signed, Bobby should have no problems.

Yes very well said RiversideClips. Bobby has done a good job and has been a solid backup SF. Since we don't have him now I guess Nick Young will be playing some SF until our final roster is set. I would like to bring Bobby back. His shot didn't always fall but we was pretty solid defensively.

If we are unable to add a player that is bought out that is better than Bobby, then I'd welcome him back. Adding Young limits the need for Bobby and means that we could look at something else. Turiaf?

He wasn't a world beater by any means, but his ability to spread the floor (37.1% from 3) is a positive asset.

I think it's a bad move not to keep him. I think we can sign him to 1 more 10 day and should atleast do that. If we find someone better in the next 10 days great! If not we've protected Bobby and we're probably not gonna get anyone if it doesn't happen in the next 10 days. Having Bobby gives us a deep bench, not having him brings in Gomes with just 1 injury. I usually say DTS is willing to spend and he really has proven that over the last decade. **** like this proves how cheap he really is...I mean a 10 day is probably like $10,000 and watch Bobby get swooped up and us add no one.

Nope we already signed him to two ten day contracts. The money is not the issue at all. if signed he would be signed for the remainder of the season. We have to keep our options open to all the potential players that will be waived. if the options are all less than Simmons, he will be re-singed.

Maybe where looking to sign another SF if we dont sign him for the rest of the season? Cause it doesn't seem like any ones confident with Gomes there (which is understandable) so with Simmons we've only got Butler as a true SF.

Don't see the point of adding Turiaf with Evans and Martin off the bench, if an offensive 4 ala Craig Smith was available, would rather go that route, or even bring back Ike Diogu. I wouldn't mind giving Quinton Ross a 10-day contract as well, he's averaging 75% from three in the D-League :D.

On the real, I can't see many waived players that can be an upgrade over Simmons. I don't even view Nocioni as an upgrade either. Terrence Williams maybe? I heard he was working out in LA recently.

We need amnesty/waive/trade Gomes and keep him around for the rest of the way. His impact is felt more on the defensive end with the occasional 3 or jumper every now and then. Bobby is much appreciated in that 2nd string.
