Suns cant close out games!!!

Post#1 » by SunsRback4Good » Wed Mar 21, 2012 6:08 pm

The Suns could easily be 28-18 right now but since we don't have a closer we continue to struggle with 5 minutes left in the game. You would think Phoenix would finally figure out who to give the ball when it matters but they just wont learn. Gentry is big reason too why we keep losing in final minutes because when Frye is struggling don't f*kin keep him out there bench his azz and bench him whole game against Magic so he realizes how badly he sucks sometimes. Also, Nash needs to start being more aggressive like CP3/Williams and score in final minutes instead of passing it out when he has an open layup. I don't understand this when Morris/Brown/Telfair playing so good and up by 6+ points in 4th he benches them only to have our starters blow the game. This Suns team can play good/great for 43 minutes but when it comes down to executions and big buckets they fold easily. Why not just put Redd in the clutch and see what he can do instead of relying on Frye/Dudley to save the day? Oh well just wanted to rant about this that pisses me off.

This is hilarious. You want Nash to be aggressive like CP3?! You know that Paul is 12 years younger? Sometimes I'm really suprised of what people want Nash to do.

Redd in the clutch? Well let him defend Wade or James.

I agree on Brown, though. I believe he should've played instead of Dudley against Miami simply because of his ability to defend Wade.

I'm not saying Nash should be aggressive for full 48 minutes of the game. All I want from him is to make huge shots in final minutes instead of drive inside to either force a turnover or pass it out to Frye only to miss a layup. I respect that Nash dishes out 10+ assists a game but if he can't make the right decision in the clutch we won't be making the playoffs. When was last time Nash had a huge shot to tie or win the game for us? I'm guessing against the Nets like 3 years ago?

Have you seen how Miami defended him on the pick&roll? They threw three guys at him and completely closed the passing lanes. Nash passed to Frye because Wade or James would've blocked his layup. We didn't lose because of Nash, we did because of Miami's incredible defense.

I love how you create a thread that we can't close out games after we lost against the next NBA champion. Do you know that we won 10 out of our previous 12 games?

Big whoop we won 10 out of previous 12 games. But can we beat teams like OKC, Heat, Spurs or Bulls for once this season. I'm least impressed that we beat struggling Clippers twice, and T-Wolves. When we can finally win one game against those 4 teams I mentioned then let me know. No need to call me out because I created a thread that we lost to the Heat. This crap been going on all season that we can't close games with about 4 to 5 minutes left in the game.

I'm not here for you or anyone else here to like me. I watch all Suns games and I see whats going on out there and their mistakes which needs to be fixed.

We are a mediocre team. We are just pretender, not even a playoff contender, we aren't suppose to beat them. In basketball, talents win games. You take Nash and Gortat out, this team is as good as the LOLcats. And it's a debate how much Nash has to do with Gortat's number.

I don't get why people are so beat up with the lost to the Heat. I for one am glad that we didn't get blown out. Heat played better at the end and showed why they are among the elites. The Suns, on the other hand, has been struggled to make it pass the .500 mark for most part of the season. There's a reason we lost more than half the games we played - we just aren't the better team, and the better team wins 80% of the time.

We lost a close one, but had won some close games too. It happens to all teams all the time.

I agree with you. I can live with losing to the Heat in final minutes because they're a great contender team with experience when it comes to grinding it out in final minutes of the game. But what I'm upset about is losing in final minutes to other teams that aren't as good as Heat. Early in the season we lost to Hornets, then to Rockets, Warriors and few other teams. Basically when it comes down to a close game in final minutes Suns find a way to blow it.

Yeah, cant believe the Suns had trouble closing out one of the best teams in the league. I mean its not like that team has 3 All Stars on it or anything.

If I come off in a bad way I'm sorry. But I love this team and hope they improve in final minutes of the game. When they do we can be so much better in closing out games and the record will show.

Closing out games has as much to do with coaching as talent.

We have the talent.

What we really need to close out games is a big who can finish inside like Amare and it's not only about making the shots it's also about being able to catch the ball. Gortat's butter fingers in the last 5mins of the Miami game led to crucial turnovers that let the Heat erase out 10pt lead. Also Frye blowing that layup right at the end was a joke as well.

Put someone of Amare's calibre out there and we finish some of those plays and potentially win the game.

Unless that is the same Amare, who instead of making the extra pass to a wide open Shaq under the hoop, decides to run over KT on the Spurs for his sixth foul of the game, and earlier in that game allows his man to screen LB, and doesn't rotate to a wide open Finley, who makes a three. Meaning, even the great Amare had flaws in crucial games in the playoffs. We need plays that will counter some of the defenses like the Heat.

It seems quite easy to figure out how to beat the Suns, but you need a little bit of ref help. Just manhandle Nash from the half court in, and we do very little.

It is completely crazy that a 2-time MVP gets absolutely no respect from the refs. This method has worked soooooo many times. But, it only works if the other team has a flavor-of-the-year/in-his-prime superstar, or two. That's why crappy teams can't contain him. The Heat were absolutely brutal to him all game (especially in the first 10 minutes). A foul for Nash is apparently different than a foul to another player. I really don't understand how some players get a call even when they have no one close to them, and Nash is constantly dealing with handchecks and general rough-housing.

Miami is the best defensive team in the league. When the Heat turn it on there's nothing we can do. Every pass was getting deflected and our best ball handler is 38. We had no chance in the 4th.
