Some poor refereeing coupled with Madrid's firepower not producing enough and it seems like the title could be within reach of Barcelona again. It's not homerish to say sending Ozil off was uncalled for, is it?

The poor refereeing was hugely in favour of Real, what happened after the goal was a scandal, but it'll go untreated like always with Madrid.

Mourinhio has done a great job from results POV, he's really overachieving with Real, but he created an awful image for the team, and they'll have him and half the roster out next game, he's an extreme version of Fergie, and while Fergie knew how to keep things in the acceptable and OK range, Mourinhio has crossed the line by a huge margin.
Barcelona has screwed with his head, I'm not sure he'll be back the same guy he was in Inter and Chelsea, not that he was an angel back then.

Even the Ramos decision struck me as a bit harsh all things considered. Definitely deserved a yellow card but then again, I clearly remember a Villarreal player doing a similar tackle on Pepe. Pepe started bleeding and somehow got a yellow card for that. Either way, Madrid have shown they can obliterate teams like this earlier on in the season, and I know they are preserving energy for a tough schedule but the real reason people doubt their ability is because even in top form, they don't take advantage of all their opportunities.

The goal we had looked great (Ozil!), but again there were opportunities that weren't utilized. IMO Mourinho should be more concerned with that rather than trying to put the blame on a referee that he's feuded with previously.

Also, funny side note but I was talking to a Barcelona fan (hope he was kidding, seemed serious) and he theorizes that Mourinho actually came to Spain in order to bring division between the national team so that Portugal could win the Euro2012

The arrogant behaviour of everyone involved in this Real Madrid club is a thorn in my side for a long time now. I'm just glad whenever this club fails.

Meh. Used to be a concern for me too, but they've toned it down this year. Being humbled by Barcelona time after time will do that to you. Doesn't help that everyone is at each other's throats all the time, but Madrid are far more respectful of all their opponents this year. I think a lot of the "arrogance" people see in Madrid is in ignorance of the fact that the club has dominated domestically and globally time after time. Of course, now that there's a better team on the block, pride gets in the way of common courtesy.

Real ties Valencia 0-0 at home. Lead down to 4 points.

Was an INCREDIBLE game. Plenty of chances for both sides; how Benzema didn't score a few I have no clue. This was the best game I've seen all year, and it finished scoreless! Craziness.

Madrid has to take all 3 points vs Atletico on Wednesday. The Clasico is looming large!!!

The highlight had to be Pepe rolling around on the ground (as usual) trying to draw a yellow, Arbeloa coming over telling him to get the F up, and Pepe kicking Arbeloa in the knee (HIS OWN TEAMMATE!).

Also, Ronaldo tripping over his own feet and complaining for a penalty. Hilarious stuff.

I've seen only the last 20 minutes but I don't think it was the best game I've seen this month let alone this season. It surely was exciting to watch but it must've been frustrating for both trainers considering how many easy mistakes both teams made.

Seriously, it was a GREAT game... I'm gonna PVR the repeat broadcast.

Here's Pepe adding another chapter to his infamy:

Wow, Real's next 7 games are:

Atletico Madrid (away)
Sporting Gijon

Bayern Munich
Barcelona (away)
Bayern Munich

Sevilla
Athletic Bilbao (away)

This league is wide open!

I only caught the last 5-10 minutes, but Valencia players were just rolling on the pitch the whole time.

Madrid were definitely the better team but they were doing their fair bit of rolling on the field. I really want Pepe off our team, he's not a bad player but he disgraces this team at least once a month.

If there was any truth to those rumours Madrid trading one of Pepe or Ramos with 30 million for Thiago Silva, I hope we jump on it. Or sign Yann M'Vila. And the Khedira for Boateng rumour seems like a reach but that'd be great for us too.

Should have been a red card.

I'll predict right here that Pepe's dumbness will cost Real Madrid at least one title this season.

If I'm Bayern Munich or Barca I try to provocate this guy all game long. Eventually, he'll try to break your legs and then your team is up by one man.

Marcelo and Sergio Ramos are the two other guys worth provocating. They are also always capable of doing something dumb.

Madrid Derby probably decides the winners of La Liga. They've shown they can beat Barca but not the way they're playing recently. Best we can hope for is a draw at Camp Nou, but if we win this one then even a loss against Barcelona won't take us off the top of the table.

Gotta give it to Ronaldo, no matter how unlikeable he is, dude showed up big yesterday. Madrid as a whole played well, although I'm not sold on their defence. Munich should put it to the test.

The only danger game I see for Real remaining is at Bilbao, and that's assuming they lose to Barca.

If I had to guess, I reckon we'll see a draw at the Nou Camp.

Hypothetically, if they lose to Barca and are knocked out of the UCL by Munich, but still win the league by 1 point, how happy will the Madrid president be?

Hypothetically if Madrid wins La Liga by a short margin and gets knocked out by Munich, the team is in trouble. Mourinho seems intent on winning the domestic title in the major leagues (England, Italy, and Spain) so I'm not sure he would stick around much longer, and Madrid is unlikely to find a tactician even close to Mourinho's level. Having him leave could result in some of the players looking for a move away from the team as well.

Barring a major upgrade in the defence this team won't get much better than they are now, and without Mourinho the back line will look significantly worse.

It's easy to hate Mourinho given he is a horrible person, but he's done a great job with this team. I mean, this Madrid team is fantastic. Their counter attack is incredible to watch and they come at you with such incredible speed.

Like we said though, the defence is the key. I just don't have any faith in Ramos/Pepe. Pepe is excellent but so prone to do something stupid, I wouldn't be surprised to see him sent off either against Bayern or Barca.
