Doesn't make sense to me.

If you're confident enough the Celtics will lose enough games without this one for the Knicks to catch them, what does it matter what the Bucks finish, since they're already behind the Knicks?

We talking the difference between the 7th or 8th seed?

I'd rather aim for the division crown first and foremost. Knicks take care of that, the Bucks are irrelevant.

rooting for the bucks makes no sense from a knicks point of view...the celtics will get there losses as will we....after this 2 game stretch of easy games we have a very tough schedule and you guys are taking our stretch right now and a guarantee that we will keep winning at a great pace...

lets say we go 6-4 over the next 10 games
the bucks could very well go 7-3
and say the celtics go 5-5

guess what team is out of the playoffs with 10 games to play??? that would be the knicks!

please i know u don't want to do it but the celtics winning tonight is the best thing happening to the knicks down the stretch

It's not because I'm relying on continuing our winning streak, it's because the more losses Boston has, the better our chance to pass them. Besides, it's Boston.

So you're shooting for the 8th seed?

Have you seen the Celts schedule starting April 1?

Also, if we aren't good enough to go on a run and move up in the standings over mediocre teams like Boston and Philadelphia, getting to the playoffs won't mean a whole lot anyhow. Another first round exit.

I see people talking about our schedule. Smh...if we can't beat good teams, why bother showing up in the playoffs?

why does 1 game mean im shooting for the 8th seed!

im first a foremost shooting for a playoff spot!

second of all since we play milwaukee on monday I would like to not have them come in on a 8-game willing streak I would like the celts to cool them off, Does that make sense???

Who we rooting for tonight?

Post#107 » by mmxx » Thu Mar 22, 2012 11:28 pm

How can anyone want Bucks to win tonight? Knicks don't have the series tie-breaker against them and they have the same losses. The April 11 game against Bucks Knicks are coming off a back to back against Chicago and Bucks have one day's rest. All this means is when all games played Knicks need to count on Bucks to lose one more game than them just to make the 8th seed (You can't guarantee Boston is gonna fall out of the playoff pic).

With Bucks' remaining super easy schedule, you need them to lose as many as possible. Boston with the tough schedule will lose their share anyway.

The goal is to have both Boston and Bucks lose the max number of possible games. If Bucks win the few tough games in their schedule how are you ever going to catch them (yes because of the tie-breaker you're playing to *catch* the Bucks).

The last thing you want is Boston end up winning just enough games to stay ahead of you (they have 3 games cushion) AND Bucks does not lose one more than you, edging you out of the playoffs by tie-breaker!!

(apologies for repeating but people thinking Knicks already clinched playoff are just plain illogical)

Because the Celts are in front of the KNicks by more than the Bucks are behind the Knicks.

You want to finish higher than 8th, you catch who is in FRONT of you. Catch the 7th seed, who finishes in the 8th seed is irrelevant.

Heres are next 11 games would this be a fair assessment:

@Toronto
Detroit
Milwaukee
Orlando
@Atlanta
Cleveland
@Indiana
@Orlando
Chicago
@Chicago
@Milwaukee

I could see 7-4 i could see 6-5....is very possible which isn't terrible over that stretch...the bucks can easily go 7-4 over there stretch they play much easier opp....say boston play 500 ball

guess who is the 9th seed with 8 games remaining...us with no tie breaker vs the bucks or celtics

all im saying is for ur wishes u want 4 teams jumbled with 10 games to go maybe 1 or 2 games from 4th but also 1 or 2 games from 9th (out of the playoffs)

I want a 3 game lead from the 9th and a 2-3 game from the 4th because i think we can make up 2-3 games over the last 10 based off phili schedule

correct but the celtics have a much tougher schedule not sure why that isn't sinking in...over the next 20 games the celtics have a bunch more losses than the bucks do...so IF the knicks who have some tough games play this win 1 loss 1 we have tough road games and bucks and orlando at home.

what if we win the next 2 but slip up vs the bucks and have one bad game....we will be back in the 9th seed regardless of what the celtics do.

that is why right now i want the bucks to lose...just a little breathing room and then its on to phili and boston to take there spots...we first need to secure a playoff spot before we go any farther

It IS sinking in. I'm simply saying pile on as many losses to that one team as possible. Get them spinning downward before the reach the brutal part of the sched.

Has the added benefit of PASSING a team they need to PASS to win the Atlantic.

Knicks only need to catch or keep ONE team behind them. I'd saying let's root for the Celts to tank.

Wanting to hedge your bests seems wishy-washy to me.

i agree the celtics have a tougher schedule but in the back of my mind they still have vets and should pull off a few shockers....bucks are an inexperineced team and a couple loses might have them spiral down too....i just want more losses for everyone

mpharris has convinced me. let's not get too cocky. celtics it is. i know, i know, he likes toney douglas and all but that doesn't mean he can't be right this one time. yes he's been horribly, horribly wrong before but i'm willing to overlook that. he's right for once. it won't happen again but this time he's right. um...should i go on ?

Can't secure a berth in March, or do you get any bonus points for staying in the 8th position.

Gotta have a macro view - what the FINAL standings will be.

Assume the Knicks will finish strong, root for the best chance to win the 4th seed.

Exactly. I can't understand the reasoning of some. The Bucks are already behind us and play us two more times. If you look at the bigger picture, it'd be better if the Celtics lost so it narrows their lead over us in the standings. I don't expect a veteran team like Boston to lose many games down the stretch no matter who they play so every loss will be critical.
