OK, I got some clarification. So apparantly a player can decide to retire and basically null the contract from there on out. the team doesn't owe him anything. They could also negotiate a byout with the team, in which case the buyout amount would count against the cap.

So, why are we assuming that Darko is going to walk away from $7 million dollars?

Maybe Adelman will hurt his feelings a lot over the rest of the year so he'll want to quit?

He talked about it when he was on the Knicks but that was before Kahn gave him a new contract. Don't get me wrong, it would be fantastic if he did. I just don't see why he would walk away from that much money at a realtively young age.

Let's all start heckling him, though we can just amnesty him...He's the only candidate for it since JJ was signed after the CBA.

The biggest difference right now is that when things start going bad for this team, they no longer believe they can dig their way out of it. That's such a contrast to earlier in the season, the Bulls game especially comes to mind, where they were getting blown out in the 1st quarter and then came storming back in the 2nd. Yes the firepower is no longer there due to injuries but I'm starting to see some bad body language and lack of belief out there.
