It's crazy how easily this Saints problem could be OUR problem.

Payton was one of our top choices for HC, and was considered by many to be the frontrunner, in 2006 when we decided to go with McCarthy.

We vigorously went after Greg Williams for DC in 2009 before he decided to go to New Orleans and we went with Capers.

In an alternative world, this could be the Packers.

If we were in their position right now, there would be heads rolling. Payton would be fired, as would any other coach that may have been connected.

Yeah, he is pretty much the perfect back for us. It would be funny if he decided to leave and sign with us in a favre-esque revenge move.

No one was fired when the Packers had a bounty system against Adrian Peterson.

The Packers' "bounty" system from a few years back was all stats-based (that we know of). Get a sack, you got $100 from the pool of defensive players. Hold Peterson under 100 yards and the DBs paid the front 7 or something like that.

They got slapped on the wrist but no harsh penalties.

Is there something missing from when they tweaked Peterson's knee a few years back?

Originally missing from this list because PFF believed Saturday would call it a career, he’s now an interesting option on the free agent market, ending 2011 as our 5th ranked C despite his advanced years. Can still play and do a fine job for a team.

This. Interested to see how the money compares with wells (suppose I wouldn't mind if the first year salaries were all that similar). Also, unless Konz is the absolute BPA (which very well could happen and would then lead to an interesting debate of Konz vs. Saturday), I don't see him being as much of a possibility as I had prior.

Yeah, I like the signing, replaced Wells with an adequate player. Unless Kontz is the absolute best player by a longshot, I go somewhere else. Lets go Pack!

Great signing. This allows the Packers to draft defensive line in the first round. I'd look for a young center to groom in later rounds like Philip Blake or Michael Brewster.

I wouldn't exactly say I'm excited about this (Saturday is getting pretty old, he'll be 37), but at least we know he's not going to make a fool out of himself out there and we won't necessarily be pressured to throw a rookie into the fire.

I'd still be up for drafting someone like David Molk to develop for the future.

Jeff Saturday is a really smart player and a good guy from what I've heard. Assuming he can hold up physically, it's a great signing.
