I see absolutely no downside to this trade from the Rockets perspective.

Basically Kupchak gave Morey a 1st Round Pick that may or may not ever materialize in the Kobe Bryant Era (depending on how Dallas does) for doing him a favor by taking away any potential politics or drama that team co-captain Fisher would have created by playing (he was awful) or being benched.

If Jordan Hill can give Pau or Bynum a breather, I think LAL is content.

Actually old man Fisher did you guys a favor. After all is said and done, and Fisher by opting out for his 3rd year 3.4 mil for the buyout, basically gave you guys a first round pick for free. Actually, even better, Fisher opting out of all next year's money, it means Rockets were paid about $200K to receive a first-round pick. So don't hate him too much, he actually did you guys good.

I see the upside for the Lakers being what you guys are describing. This was a financial move first & foremost (you know he would not have declined his option in LA) and you avoid any drama. I can see that being worth a free, low pick that may or may not happen soon.

How bad is Fischer that the Lakers are willing to give a pick just to get rid of him. And the player they trade for gets zero playing time?

Hey guys an off topic question - was wondering about Dalembert, u guys have a team option on him for next year for 6.7 mil. Do u think u will want him back for that kind of money or will u let him go?

6.7 isn't too bad but then if Camby is willing to re-sign for say half that amount then yeah it's possible Sammy's option is declined. I think it depends on the draft if we get a center like Tyler Zeller or Fab Melo. There's also the Motiejunas factor since he will be joining the team.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

we're retooling on the fly, so there's no way of knowing who stays/who leaves. everyone, including lowry, can be traded this offseason. our 2nd 1st round pick, pf/c donatas motiejunas, is coming over from the euroleagues next season. i can say that if the roster stays the same for hte most part, there'sa 50/50 chance we only keep one of our centers, depending on donatas' defensive impact. also camby wont ask for a big contract, he's at the end of his career and lives in houston since 05, so we can keep both centers. dalembert is on a cheap contract, i dotn mind keeping him.

i think at least one of our bigs will get traded. it'll be too congested next season. if morris and motie arent ready then might not trade any of our bigs.

The irony of this is if Fisher is playing backup PG against Houston in the first round. Dragic will destroy him.
