He has size - beastly size.
will be a defensive specialist and give Hibbert some much needed rest at periods.

Aside from that I don't know too much.

I love this move. I was rooting for us to sign Fesenko on PD for the last 2 days.

Larry made me happy :D

Weird that nobody picks this guy up! I mean he's 7'1" 280 and I've seen at least 5-6 ball clubs looking at backup centers in the last 3 months!

Did this guy just now get out of his foreign contract or what?

Nope.

He got injured at the Eurobasket in September and when the season started and the Warriors approached him his was not 100%. He has been rumored by several bloggers for several teams (Bucks, Celtics) but no word by any FO. Until we signed him, of course :D

Fesenko is hilarious. He's a terrible basketball player, but he's so funny, you'll love him anyway.

He's seriously just there to get in the way of everybody-- and it works. Just a giant body to clog **** up.

Not bad. I think he's got decent per-minute value. He's not gonna play more than 10 mpg, but he's still another big body that could push opponents out of the paint.
I think Lou Amundson's still going to get the primary back-up role, he plays bigger than his size and he really is like a Jeff Foster clone with the enthusiasm that he shows.

I wanted us to get Fesenko before the season even started.

How do you pronounce his name? I can only hope it sounds nothing like "Cabbage."

Checking out his stats, the one that jumps out at me the most is his career free throw pct. of .398. That's...not very good.

Hey, I started that thread. I think Fesenko is a nice pickup and will help in the playoffs knocking some people down. Our bench, and team generally, really needs some scoring though and he doesn't help with that so I don't think he'll get many minutes. Just enough to become despised by Bulls fans in the playoffs.

He is actually pronounced as written, I guess. His name is the Cyrillic alphabet is written as "Фесенко". All of those letters are pronounced straight up as written in Ukrainian so there's no reason that he would be pronounced differently. It's the same with his name. Кирило is pronounced straight up Kyrylo.

As for "Cabbages" he was never pronounced this way. It's just that nobody cared enough to learn the actual pronounciation of his name (JasikEvicius isn't really that hard).

He's a horrid free throw shooter, indeed. In the Eurobasket he was at 5/11 (45.5%) so let's all hope that he's improving in this area. Let's just hope that our shooting coaches can help him as we're one of the elite teams when it comes to FT statistics :D

Thanks, I appreciate the explanation. I really have no idea how to pronounce his name.

So it is KEER-ee-lo fuh-SEN-ko? And is that Ukrainian for Rebound?

No, it's Ukranian for "I make basket!"

here's the short but sweet release.

http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/pacers-sign-free-agent-center-fesenko

looks like they have a slightly different pronunciation guide with the k at the end of the second syllable rather than the beginning of the third. have to watch the telecast to see if they come up with a nickname. no way Quinn pronounces this right.
