What role does Royal Ivey currently have on the team?

Considering that Diaw has better career assist averages than Fisher, perhaps Diaw should be "running the point" for the second unit, allowing Fisher to spot up from the corner and exude championship experience?

In seriousness, not a huge fan of Diaw for this team. He's a bit of a tweener, and if OKC is to aquire front row depth, they would need to look for someone who can operate and score abit in the post.

That's the crazy thing about Boris. He can do everything: score in the post, pass, shoot, defend. Sometimes he'll do it all and have a great game, but this season, we've seen him do none of that more times than not, even though he's more than capable of it. He's lazy and fat. As someone who watched him closely in Charlotte, I'd pass.

Is there any more risk with Diaw than there was with Fisher?

Who would you rather have in the playoffs a big man capable of doing a little bit of everything if a key player is injured or a fourth point guard in Royal Ivey?

Considering the reported interest from the Spurs you have to wonder if Diaw's story this year has more to do with being in a hopeless situation in Charlotte than just being lazy.

I think Diaw would be an excellent insurance policy and with 20 games left you have some time to see his game before the playoffs.

OKC does not need a Diaw type. Yes they need front court depth and low post scoring, but like what the other poster mentioned, he can do a bit of everything. He is not a consistent low post scorer. Even if it was 10 ppg, a good back to the basket guy would be much better. Diaw will maybe give you a mid range jumper, a hook shot in the paint, maybe beat a bigger man for a layup. OKC needs a back to the basket player who they can just dump the ball into to get a few easy buckets around the rim a few times a game.

If you're adding a player in the last third of the season, then having someone who can play multiple positions and brings multiple skills seems like a good solution for now. The Thunder are prepared to throw a low post scorer into this offense at this point in time. You need a training camp to integrate such a presence into the offense. Not that finding such a player is easy, every team is looking for that player to some degree.

Diaw is fat and unmotivated. He is a talented player when he is motivated and in shape though but that is essentially never. There is no point in signing him.
