This is not a matter of who is better.

Faried: With Gallo out, Faried fills a stat sheet with points, rebounds, and a few blocks, but inconsistent minutes.

DeRozan: Gets the minutes, but is a one-trick pony. He's purely ppg, but he does have his off-nights.

Option A) Choose the guy who might not get the minutes but will fill a stat sheet

Option B) Choose the guy who gets the minutes but will not fill a stat sheet

It depends on what your team needs.

Who has been the better player this year? how big is the margin? This year much like last is based on team need, but I lean towards DeRozan. he was drafted in like the 6th-7th round in my ten leagues. didn't wanna draft that high :(

imo the problem w/ DeRozan goes well past his stats in a vacuum. If you have a SG (with no positional eligiblity...) who doesn't get 3s, you just created a big hole on your roster.

DeRozan is like a SF ish version of Rodney Stuckey.

He is consisent but is more of a solid role player who is durable who will get you points and not much else

I like having a player like that but I dont reach for them to high

there is no "past his stats" in fantasy basketball... it is all stats, nothing else

I dont agree with your positional eligibility perspective either.

Creating a hole on ones roster depends on all players involved, not just one. For example, you have Derozan as a SG on your fantasy team. He is one of your leading scorers while providing solid rebounding from the SG position. Match him up with someone like Mullens who is a C who rebounds and shoots 3's and you do not miss a beat.

There are very few players in fantasy basketball that give you across the board production while hurting you in NO cats.

Yea Derozan doesn't shoot a lot of 3's, but he Helps a lot in Scoring, rebounding, gets a lot of FT's decent in both FG% and FG%, contributes over a steal a game, less than 2 TO's a game, good for the occational block and still gets you .5 3's a game

Wade doesn't shoot 3's either but he was still top 5 last year and top 7 the year before. I know overall rank isn't the be all end all I am merely using Wade as an example where your SG does not need to shoot 3's to contribute.
I just want to point out i am in no way saying DD is on Wade's level.
