The thing is this draft is VERY deep. The gap between 6 and 15 is really small. It should not be a shock if Barnes falls behind any of these guys: Sullinger, PJIII, McAdoo, Lillard, Marshall, T Zeller, C Zeller, Leonard, Henson, Lamb. Then outside chance of players like T Jones, A Rivers, A Moultrie, T Mitchell, M Harkless finding their fans in the lotto.

Would not surprise me if Barnes goes behind Moe Harkless. Harkless can end up being the much sexier pick. He's younger, more athletic, aggressive, has more room to grow offensively. He was an extremely productive player for one of the draft's youngest players, he had better stats than MKG. He's the type that kills it in workouts and makes Chad Ford rave about his "motor", saying Barnes might be more talented but doesn't play as hard, while Harkless has more "heart". He has a very accessible comparison in Wilson Chandler. Harkless is the type that becomes a hot story late in the game and all of a sudden is going 8th or 9th overall to the Cleveland Cavaliers

Barnes will not fall behind the Raptors. Hes gonna workout for us, everyone will say how college held him back and hes still only 19, and if hes available when its our time, he'll be the newest raptor.

Book it. sig bet. side bet. w/e

We'll definitely work him out. He'll say nice things about Toronto, brag about his Scrabble scores and then our doctors will inform him that his heart is actually a third foot and that he could die at any minute. He'll slip to us in the 2nd round, we'll sign him for 3/$3 and put him in the DLeague, after a miraculous recovery, to see if he can actually make 3s.

Haven't watched much of Beal, but what can he do that Barnes can't do?

He is really good at running the pick and roll from the 2, he is an excellent rebounder, he is a pesky defender, and his offense of the ball is already very good.

Although Barnes is probably better from the triple threat, in my opinion Beal is really a more well rounded player who is always playing with a lot of effort.

He's quite a bit better off the dribble, mainly thanks to more speed and better ballhandling, which is helped by being lower to the ground which makes it harder to pick him off. He could be like Eric Gordon off the dribble, which isn't spectacular but still solid. Beal projects to be a better threat attacking the basket and getting points at the rim/free throw line. Beal can be one of the best rebounding SGs in the league, Barnes is an average rebounder for a SF. Beal is a better passer. He's also younger which is important because Beal's skill level right now is higher than Barnes', both as a shooter and off the dribble, so the chance of him taking it up a level is higher

Virtually the only argument for Barnes over Beal from our perspective is drafting for need and planning on Demar being a longterm fixture. That's fine if people want to believe that, but I personally think we need the best talent

lol he's not going to be 15 that's ridiculous. If Raps end up being 6th-7th, BC is not passing on him and somehow i feel he'll be gone before the 6th pick. Legitimate player, one of the best scorers in college. Could be at least a solid starter in NBA. Guy is still 19 years old, had two bad games and all of a sudden he's that bad.

That's what tourney is all about, its a do or die situation, a bad game in those levels will make your stock go down hard, a good one, gets your stocks high as hell. At worst, he's still going to be a starter cos he can play defense and knock down shots. I never say he's going to be an all star or superstar, but his talent is there. If we get him at 6-7 I'll be thrilled with it, he has alot of room to improve and he certainly has the work ethic to do so. If he gets picked in top 4, he's going to face a more immense pressure from media and from all of the posters here, all deja vu again.

Good decision by Myck for returning another year, he's got tremendous potential and would get alot more developmental experience at the college level playing majority of the minutes where as in the NBA he'd start off as a back up to 3rd stringer.

TBH I can't remember the last UNC player that was a total workhorse dedicated to bball only, aside from Psycho T. It must be something in the water there. HB's demeanor is no different than many other UNC players drafted before him.

Alot of things that Barnes fail to do, dribbling abilty/play-making ability/consistency. What Beal can do for us is massive, his playmaking ability is an area that we definitely desperately need. He can break down defenders, get into the lane, drive and dish, understand mismatch really well, especially spotting Patric Young down low (evidently seen from time to time where Young is in position down low to post up a weaker defender, Beal will automatically spot him easily and feed him in the post), he also plays solid defense with very good reflex (deflect the passing lane), and good footwork, all these to make up for his lack of size, ...so what he can do is equally same type of defense like Barne did, however at a more appealing level, Beal can pick up on more steals.

His ability to understand when to feed to bigs in low post, dribble drive and dish to shooters, and for his playmaking ability at the 2, is a benefit cos he can slide down to 1 for us occasionally depending on matchup. He's a really good asset to have, considering we have Val where he can find down low, spot Bargs anywhere cos Bargs can score just about anywhere, feed alot of uncontested shot opportunities for Demar (especially when Demar comes off screens).

If we want a guy who makes most impact at certain areas for the game, other than Davis and MKG, I say Beal is one that can do that (e.g. playmaking ability)

I'm not a big HB fans but to attack his work ethic is a bit off base, he seems to have good work ethics like Demar and similarly just isn't talented enough to be considered a tier 1 player (something we absolutely need to shoot for in this draft).

dream scenario:

-win #1 pick; draft davis
-trade bargs to a team like the kings for a top 6-7 pick; draft barnes
-sign nash

Nash/Derozan/Barnes/Davis/Valanciunas

ouf!

admittedly i haven't paid much attention to beal. but the way you describe it he sounds more like a poor mans b-roy or harden type rather than eric gordon who's comparisons he seems to be drawing. gordon was just a beast lights out scorer at indiana, he was drafted for that. i don't see the high volume scoring potential in beal. he sounds like the all around roy/harden type.

I have played 10 times and not once gotten a prospect I didn't want.

Running it repeatedly (30+) it seems our most likely guy is Harrison Barnes. Next for me was Drummond. Then Beal, MKG were a toss-up. But most definitely it was Barnes.

Strangely I got Beal 3 times out of 5 tries. It's a very good thing :)

#1 bad vibe I get from MKG is he's dumb as ****! has anyone seen this guy interview? there's a reason he's playing at kentucky for coach cal as a 1-and-done. this guy could never go to UNC or Duke where they actually have to be somewhat academically competent.
