This is from Nene:
“Last two days I started feeling it a little bit, but yesterday, before the game (vs. Atlanta) it was tight, but after the game I feel like old man,” said Nene “My back was really sore in the locker room. It was pretty tight, and this morning it was shut down. I did massage, I did physical therapy, and when I got here I did a couple exercises, and it was really hard for me.”
Anyone know if the back injury is serious? Must be concerning for a newly acquired player to announce that he feels "old" and unable to move.

Re: Nene's Back
I said after the trade that I dont care about Nene's health until next year. Its a short season with a ton of games and he's obviously nicked up. If he's hurting any then just sit him down. He's had an injuried history but he's been relatively healthy the last few years so its not a huge concern right now.
If we were in a playoff race then I would be upset but not now. Your seeing alot of guys banged up this year and they dont have much time to recover. I think the Wiz feel the same way. Its no big deal and if he's hurt any then he sits. Just as long as he's full strength next year.
With that being said, Ive had a bad back for the last 10 years and nothing is worst then back pain

Ernie Grunfeld should never have made this deal.
You guys can talk about McGee all you want, but this man is going to be receiving $13M the next 4 seasons. Wizard fans and Grunfeld lack the foresight to realize this good player missed a ton of games with injury in Denver and he will do the same in Washington. Denver's GM was probably very relieved that Ernie took the call by himself.
At least McGee could have been dealt as a RFA.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Fwiw, I did bring up the timing issue when the trade was made - it would have made a lot more strategic sense to wait until after the season to make a Javale trade for Nene - though my reasoning was mainly not to mess up the tank. But hey, if Nene misses a bunch of time, at least he's not messing up the tank.

I came into this thread with that Chris Matthews twitch in my leg. What a letdown. And I thought "Nene's hand" had something to do with poker, and "Nene's knee" was a French movie.

Re: Nene's Back
FWIW, that "old man" reference is a very common thing to say in Spanish or Portuguese. It's a direct translation of "como un viejito" or "me duele como un viejo". Just means you are sore after a game. You guys are overreacting to that statement. Don't take it too seriously, it's a tongue in cheek thing....purely direct translation.
After 4 years of McGee, he'd be an amazing Harlem Globetrotter. He has close to zero BBIQ and jumps high and is creative with his dunks. I'm shocked we were able to get a player the caliber of Nene for a guy who made the entire Wiz fanbase cringe when he touched the ball in the paint. Let McGee do his cinnamon tricks and other stupid **** in Denver. We were literally devoid of any semblance of a professional player who can actually give us PT on the court.....we now have a low post threat.
Good riddance McGee, Grunfeld needs to start looking at the Blairs/Millsaps/Farieds of the draft and ignore his supposed "high ceiling" guys.

Or McGee would be a natural for the Globetrotters' rivals - the other team from DC.
I'm kidding, CCJ. Don't hate.

Don't overreact, CCJ. We'll have a new GM soon
