Alot of things that Barnes fail to do, dribbling abilty/play-making ability/consistency. What Beal can do for us is massive, his playmaking ability is an area that we definitely desperately need. He can break down defenders, get into the lane, drive and dish, understand mismatch really well, especially spotting Patric Young down low (evidently seen from time to time where Young is in position down low to post up a weaker defender, Beal will automatically spot him easily and feed him in the post), he also plays solid defense with very good reflex (deflect the passing lane), and good footwork, all these to make up for his lack of size, ...so what he can do is equally same type of defense like Barne did, however at a more appealing level, Beal can pick up on more steals.

His ability to understand when to feed to bigs in low post, dribble drive and dish to shooters, and for his playmaking ability at the 2, is a benefit cos he can slide down to 1 for us occasionally depending on matchup. He's a really good asset to have, considering we have Val where he can find down low, spot Bargs anywhere cos Bargs can score just about anywhere, feed alot of uncontested shot opportunities for Demar (especially when Demar comes off screens).

If we want a guy who makes most impact at certain areas for the game, other than Davis and MKG, I say Beal is one that can do that (e.g. playmaking ability)

admittedly i haven't paid much attention to beal. but the way you describe it he sounds more like a poor mans b-roy or harden type rather than eric gordon who's comparisons he seems to be drawing. gordon was just a beast lights out scorer at indiana, he was drafted for that. i don't see the high volume scoring potential in beal. he sounds like the all around roy/harden type.

Yea, they often compare him to Gordon due to the size and shooting ability. But Gordon never strikes me as a playmaker. Beal will never be a big time scorer like Gordon is. If you had read the article I posted several pages ago, it describes how he first came to Florida to be a scorer, but he struggles alot at scoring in the first half of gator season, so coach told him to contribute in other areas (e.g. passing and rebounding), so he found a new approach to his game, not really new but he's always have the playmaking talent, but now he really fully maximize his all around game potential. Our team really needs an adequate playmaker, not a dominant scorer, maybe one that we need in clutch time, but honestly, I much rather we have playmaker who can make everyone better, instead of another scorer to conflict with Bargs and Demar.

Its like we need a point guard from this description, but if a wing can score and create for others, then that's a better talent than other point guard prospects in this draft imo. Even when I limited myself to "Harrison or Beal" list, for me, Barnes could be the best fit but Beal could be the best talent we really need.

Lol at this rant, you do realize that a lot of these players have to have a certain grade average to play on the team right.

Actually MKG gets good grades even back in high school, its actually highlighted in his documentary (youtube). From where I saw him in documentary he speaks fine. I just think he has speech disorder, especially when he's nervous.

When draft combine comes, many of us will bring him back into topic. I really can't see how he's 8-12 range like Chad Ford said. I highly doubt he'll be back on top 5, but 5-7 is where he's likely range at.

Barnes is not talented, Barnes is not athletic, Barnes has not handles???

This is the same player everyone wanted last year with the #1 pick, same player everybody raved about his poise, work ethic and skills ... and all sudden like Rudy Gay before the draft, this board and some espn writers is writting him as no talent, unathletic stiff. Barnes is more athletic then Pierce coming out of college, he has better handles then Gay and Granger coming college, his feel for the game is allot better then Gay and Granger and on the same level as Pierce coming out of College.

Barnes has no Talent???

Are you kidding me, Barnes is the most talented wing in this Draft, he has more potential to be two way player then any player in this other then Davis. Put Granger and Gay on UNC and they have the same problem Barnes is having....

I was never into the Barnes hype from the beginning. Yes he is a talented player but he isn't the type of talent that people were hyping him up to be. To me he looked like an average player in year one and again looked average in year two. Outside of his shooting he's very invisible on the court. He's a good defender and rebounder for his position but he isn't elite at anyone of them. If I was to project Barnes at the next level he'd be an above average starter in a similar mold as Danny Granger, if he reaches his potential. Now the question is, is drafting the next Danny Granger really help push us out of being a treadmill team? I think there are other players in this draft that will impact the game more then Barnes.

Ivy League Schools..yeah. At Kentucky? LMAO good one. I suggest you do some more research on this stuff. Another good example is Derrick Rose, someone did his SAT's for him, just to get in Memphis. Anyone that's associated to Coach Cal isn't clean.

also question for you guys who know basketball better than me.

Why is height an advantage? Shouldn't wingspan be the only thing that matters?
In fact, it seems that being shorter with a longer wingspan would be better, no?

If I had a dollar for every time I heard 'x' college athlete is getting 'x' gpa, I'd have enough money to buy realgm right now.

I can't believe you actually think these guys are real students. I wonder where they find the time to study and do work if they're traveling all over the country to play ball. Student-Athlete is an oxymoron.

Only the same people who STILL wanna take him with the second overall pick wanted Barnes with a top pick last year. For a player who is supposed to be smart, hard-working and very polished offensively; he certainly has been mediocre (and awful in the tournaments). If he was so smart and skilled, he shouldn't have taken and missed so many fade aways against defenders who were at least 5 inches shorter than him.

A healthy Danny Granger was an all star, franchise player for Indiana, a guy who put up 25ppg and played good defense... if you get that type of player in the top 5 you should be happy considering we are still waiting our #1 pick to give us anywhere near the production Granger gave Indiana. I would be more then happy with Danny Granger in top 5 pick in any year. I think Barnes is being extremely underrated while we overrate other especially MKG who is not a go to guy and will give you same things James Johnsson gives you, except he is younger... Beal is undersized shooting guard. If you are thinking of drafting shooting guard then draft Lamb who is more complete and is more talented then Beal.

Don't put too much into college stats and game, because if you looked from that point of view Beasely would be superstar, Adam Morrison would be superstar, JJ Reddick would be superstar in NBA. Look at it this way, Richard Jeffersson better player in NBA, Rudy gay better player in NBA, Paul Pierce better player in NBA, Laul Deng better player in NBA, same thing with Barnes... he will be better player in NBA... In College you play system, you play within the concept fo the team... besides watch were Barnes get the ball the time... 3pt line ... they don't run any picks what so ever..

Beal and possibly lamb is more talented, as for a two way player beal is already ahead of him on that, not only two way but as an all-around guy

If MKG played for any other school he'd be a mid to end 1st rounder. He benefits from playing on a stacked Wildcats where they generate lots of fast break opportunities from their D(avis). We already have one DeRozan on the team, why draft a lesser version of the same prospect?

You know this guy is only 18 and is the 2nd best player on the best team in the country, right? Kentucky would be significantly less "stacked", without him.
