Earl Watson upset

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Mon Mar 26, 2012 9:40 pm

As expected, Earl Watson is upset about being demoted to third string PG. He says he will let his agent deal with the business side. He will be ready to play when called. You cant blame him as he has been the heart and soul of this team all year long then gets injured then gets to 3rd string. Devin Harris plays like crap all year long and remains a starter until he finally starts playing well. Get innovative Corbin! Carroll should never see the court the rest of the year. Why does this guy play? Limit CJs minutes and give some of those to Watson while playing Harris at SG for some minutes.

Why does Corbin limit Favors minutes and now making Watson 3rd string? I think I know the answer. Corbin likes to avoid confrontation. He knows if he benched Big AL or Millsap for a better player in Favors the vets create issues about playing time. Favors has not yet confronted Corbin so he will let sleeping dogs lie and hope for the best. He also knows that Watson is a team guy that would accept 3rd string and avoid confrontation because he is a professional and a team guy, but Harris and Tinsley vets use to starting would create confrontation if they were benched or loss minutes now that they are playing well. Watson plays any of those OTs the Jazz win. Favors plays any of those OTs the Jazz win. Burks plays any of those Ots the Jazz win.

This has to be Corbin's agenda or he is simply an idiot lacking common sense for game management.

I've liked the energy Carrol has been bringing to the table, especially last night. His size is something none of our PG's could bring at the SG spot.

I don't mind Carroll. He's a better guy to have on the floor than Watson or Tinsley, I think.

Carroll is pure garbage player. He just allowed Gerald green to score 10 points in half of the 1st qtr.

Carrol has been fantastic, he hustles, creates extra possessions and hits open shots. Ear; has no reason to be upset - Tinsley played well, so he needs to earn his spot back.

To be fair to Corbin, Watson was playing like ASS for quite a while there and was a major reason why we sucked so bad in February. I think there were a few wins left sitting on the bench with Tinsley in Feb. I don't feel like he wasn't given a chance.

Tinsley has been better than Watson......

The problem with Watson is that unless he gets a layup or a lucky jumpshot, he's a complete non-factor as a scorer, so opponents can ignore him and pack the paint against the Jazz when he's on the floor.....

Let's clear all these little issues up for you.

Tinsley > Watson. We have been WINNING w/ Jamaal at the point.

Carrol is the kind of hustle guy every team needs. He compliments the team well because he brings grit and hustle without demanding the volume of shots that Howard did. He contributes to the flow of the game. A successful team is comprised of multiple inter-working parts that compliment each others strengths and make up for weaknesses. Carrol may be a garbage guy, but every contender has between 1-3 of those. It's not like he's eating into anyone's minutes in the first place.

Now as far as limiting CJ's minutes, I'm all for it.

How is this a big deal again?

Are either of these guys such huge upgrades over the other that it requires some fan rage? Wasn't Watson a fan favorite just a little while ago?

I swear I read a bunch of people claiming that Watson was better than Harris. Could have been in another forum.

Tinsley should play, no question.
Yesterday we were -12 with Watson on the floor.

Watson should only be upset with himself:

He was the heart of this team for a short while when we couldn't find our identity and Jamaal was out of shape. Everyone's playing better and Watson is playing way worse. I love his hustle but he's a nonfactor as a scorer that lacks great handles and he is careless with the ball. Makes some great passes but some of the most boneheaded ones as well.

Toledo is always mad about something. Earl showed why he should be demoted to third string last night. Hard when you complain about getting demoted and then suck it up when you get put in.

Why the hate on Carroll? I thought he was terrific last night. If he can bring that kind of energy and shooting on a regular basis we've got our backup SG of the future right there.

Looks like a really nice find to me.

Well he isn't our sg of the future. that guys name is Alec Burkes. I love Carrol if we put him in the right situations. He shouldn't be guarding the other teams quickest players. He is athletic but lacks good lateral quickness. No need to hate on Carrol; he has been a pleasant surprise but he is very poor as an on the ball defender.

Watson was lucky to split minutes with Harris, but now that Harris is playing very well, and Tinsley is doing a great job running the point off the bench, there is no way Watson is going be seeing 20+mpg. More than Tinsley's individual play, it's how the bench plays with him. Our bench has soared since Watson's injury. I like Watson, but we can't mess with chemistry.

Here's the problem I have with Watson complaining about not playing. The team was not doing well with him in before he took time off for his injury. Regardless of that fact, Tinsley kept his mouth shut and bode his time on the bench until he had a chance to play, and he has taken that chance and, as I feel, has beaten Watson out for the backup PG on this team. Now Watson is back and is still playing like crap and acts like a baby when Ty doesn't put him in.

If Watson were truly this great example of a team player that everyone claims he is, he would sit down, shut up, and ride the pine until Tinsley starts playing poorly, just like Tinsley did behind him. He is playing very poorly and is hurting this team. He is not entitled to anything on this team.

Corbin doing with Watson what he did with Bell, playing him, to the detriment of the team......

Another sign of a not so good Coach.......
