The Pacers may have a better record and on paper team right now, but the Blazers have a legit top 15(in my opinion top 10) player on their roster and good role players with full max for Deron and wings that fit his skill set.

They'll also have likely the 10th overall pick and if we ship our pick somewhere between the 5th and 8th which means not only 2 high potential rookies to help fill a need but 2 big big trade assets that can be combined or deal only 1 and keep one and you can be sure they'll get proper value player wise for their picks unlike BK.

Just imagine a lineup like this...

Deron
Wes Matthews
Batum
LMA
Varejoa

Lotto pick and Crawford off the bench plus a MMLE signing and some vet min guys.

Crawford won't be in Portland Next season, he's definitely opting out. Portland could just have a pick late in the lottery.

Besides:

Hibbert
West
Granger
George
Deron

Just seems like a better team for me.

Portland needs to have Crawford to opt out for the Blazers to have enough cap space to Deron to a max deal. With Crawford opting in, the Blazers will only have around 15 mil to spend.

I agree with jeff fwiw, the Pacers make a lot of sense for Deron from a talent standpoint too. Kevin Pritchard is currently their assistant GM and it was heavily rumored that he was a big Deron Williams guy during his tenure with Portland, so there's no doubt he's in their GM's ear about going hard after him. Plus you know he'd love to stick it to Portland if he can thwart their plan to make a run at him. The Pacers need to consider their salary situation however. Roy Hibbert is pretty much guaranteed to get a max contract this summer. 2 max deals with Grangers near max contract and West's 10 mil all on the books next season will make a for expensive roster. Between Granger, Deron, Hibbert and West, they'll have roughly 53 mil tied up in those 4. I don't know if their ownership situation will allow for that.

The funny part is we did a lot of the same with Dwight, but we weren't going on their board and telling them what pieces of **** they were and telling them how awesome it's going to be to see them fail.

Quite honestly, I'll be just as happy with Deron resigning with the Nets as I would be with him signing in Portland. If for no other reason than to stick it to d-bag Mavs fans like 7777.

Speaking of Deron to Dallas, why do people keep talking about it as though it's a done deal when the Mavs won't even have max contract space available this summer. Even after they waive Odom (who'll still count for 3mil against their cap btw), the Mavs will only have roughly 11 mil in cap space (assuming the cap stays at 58mil). Are people assuming the Cuban is willing to amnesty one of either Marion or Haywood to get it done?

I'd have no problem supporting Portland after all of the crap they've been through. At least they didn't make self-inflicted mistakes like we have done...smh.

Yes people are assuming Cuban will amnesty one of Haywood or Marion and to be honest I think there is no question that he would if it meant a player like Deron.

I wouldn't rule out Cuban to throw a max offer at Eric Gordon even if he fails on Deron.
