Do You re-sign CJ?

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Tue Mar 27, 2012 6:25 pm

This is a tough decision for me. He has made himself into a very good defender and does finish near the basket pretty well, but still a chucker (but alot less recently) and cant make the outside shot consistently. If he could become a decent outside shooter than he could be like the new Bruce Bowen. At the begginning of the year, I say no way to bringing him back, but now i say yes if the price is right. Next year you can start Burks and make CJ your 7th man assuming you start Favors making Millsap your 6th man. Im interested to see of the Jazz nation wants him back with his new desire to play good defense.

Yes, with reservations - and those all boil down to our pick and the length/size of his contract. If he costs any more than he does now the short answer is "no." I wouldn't be surprised if he and Deron went to Portland.

I would resign AK. He is better SF than him.

It depends on what other actions we do. Currently, we are about $4M under the CAP, if we keep all the current pieces. I would not go over the CAP to keep him or bring AK back.

I'm in no hurry to bring him back. When he is on he is good--but inconsistency and mental lapses (like fouling at all the wrong times) keep him from being an integral part of the core. I wait and see what the draft brings and what the market is first before making a commitment there.

NO!!! Are you nuts!!! He has the basketball IQ of a grapefruit and seems to shoot worse with each passing day!!! By the end of the year he will be shooting around 30%.

DeMarre Carroll can be his replacement, he is already better and he has been on the team like 10 minutes compared to Miles. Let Miles chase his buddy to the Mavs.

No. I think whoever signs CJ to his next contract will be very disappointed.

He's in a contract year, he should be in the prime of his physical/mental abilities and yet he probably wouldn't be getting all the minutes he's getting if not for Howard's injury. If this is the best CJ has to offer then I think the Jazz should pass on him.

CJ Miles scares me every time he steps on the court because he is horribly inconsistent

i'm not a CJ fan, if he wants a contract (not long nor costly), he has to show consistency in the next month, and hopefully even more... NBA has plenty of decent swingmen, re-sign Carroll, Howard or whoever else won't hurt the cap.

Finally deciding to play vigorous defense isn't enough to win me over. After seven years of being handsy on the perimeter/letting his man blow by him, all while chucking deep threes with the shot clock at 15 on bad percentages, it would take a lot to convince me he deserves another contract.

It still kills me how a player can be in his 7th season and still wildly inconsistent.

This guy's shooting percentages are horrific, he doesn't always play hard, he doesn't rebound or pass the ball .... I mean we can get a guy in the second round to do that.

Nooope. He'll be gone the way of AK, continuing our new philosophy of cutting ties with the inconsistent, mentally weak players. Wish him the best.

Absolutely not, the man is shooting below 40% from the field. He has a few half decent games and people forget how terrible he is the rest of the time.

Not a chance. He is an historically poor offensive player who believes his biggest contribution to a tram is his offensive production.

Simply put, he's awful, and I see little or no chance of the Jazz bringing in a player that could possibly be worse than CJ Miles has been.

Even though he's been playing better lately, there's got to be somebody better out there...... Or just play Hayward and Burks on the wings, together.......

1. Who do the Jazz pickup in the draft?
2. If he fits the roster, how much money does he want?
3. Are there better option out there?

Seven years is long enough. CJ kills the Jazz on the road. Terrible numbers.

Time to say good bye and good luck.

According to hoopshype this morning the Boston Globe is saying the Celtics will look at CJ over the summer as an obtainable target (UFA who will come on the cheap).
