yep, it's either a mistake or the fact, that 2 russian teams are in final 4, so they must play against each other (like in club football competitions for example)

IMO there is no mistake. Rytas will play vs Valencia ;)

Simonas Baranauskas
Eurocup changed Final Four semifinal match-ups. Rytas was supposed to get Khimki, but will play Valencia instead... Just wonderful timing!

You're dealing with FIBA. They wanted an all-Russian semi to ensure at least one Russian team is in the final in... Moscow. Sells tickets.

But it is greasy

I think they wanted to avoid all Russian final. Can't see how this sells tickets, 2 Russian semis are better than one.

Well, they're #4 in Spanish ACB atm, behind Real Madrida, Barcelona and Caja Laboral, they have some decent players like Florent Pietrus, Victor Claver etc.. As a Rytas fan, I would say Rytas should win this one, but Valencia is a really good team :)

I think they wanted to have one russian team in finals and by having two russian teams fight each other in semi's they will get that. Of course there was a chance of getting all russian final but there was also chance of getting non-russian finals. I think they simply chose the most fool-proof way.

As far rytas I dont know who is better opponent for them - Khimki or Valencia. I think Valencia plays bit more solid basketball and are 4th in ACB but on the other hand Khimki has home-court advantage and are very strong team still.

I hope rytas wins so that Jonas will get to play finals but I would not be surprised if they loose.

But its one game, anything can happen. And they are not unbeatable, barely won series against Kuban.

They might be the favorite, but that is only because the Finals take place at their home arena. Otherwise I am pretty sure that Valencia would be the obvious favorites. Valencia has the best roster in Eurocup and it's not even all that close.

FIBA has absolutely nothing to do with the Eurocup Finals.

Next season he will be my favorite Rytas player. Dude plays his heart out every moment he is on the floor.

Oh please, starting 5 of : Fridzon, Kelati, Planinic, Monya, Loncar. Quinn, Gelabale if healthy and even the same Nielsen.
You cant tell this is not even that close. You can argue which roster looks better, cant tell one is much better than the other...

Roberts is all hustle, but what people tend to ignore, is his FG% and advanced stats. He always has terrible FG%, like now, 42% FG shooter in Eurocup. He had a good per game stats in the NBA, but the same inefficient scoring was the main reason no one resigned him.

Best "fighter" of the team. Can't get enough of his passion and hard work on the court.

As to reasons why Rytas plays Pamesa we were discussing yesterday... Kurtinaitis (main coach of Chimki) said the thing I was thinking is the case here: ULEb just corrected the mistake in logic, which was that Q A should have played semifinal game against Q B, Q C against Q D, otherwise there was a possibility to see semifinals like Lokomotiv - Rytas, Chimki - Doneck, Spartak - Buducnost, Pamesa - Nymburk, which already played 2 times in Top 16 groups.

Fridzon is a very solid player and is definitely a good player. He is nothing special though at all.

Kelati literally does nothing but shoot open jumpers.

Planinic is a very talented player but his basketball I.Q. is really low.

Monya is a big talent and very skilled, but he only chooses to make an effort in about 1/4 of the games he plays in.

Loncar is a good offensive player and solid rebounder. He can't guard his own shadow on defense.

Quinn is barely even at an adequate level for the Eurocup. His peak is something like an average player at that level. He's well below the standard level point guard for a club like Khimki.

Gelabale isn't healthy though. He's a very nice player when healthy, although limited on offense. But he is obviously hampered with knee problems.

Nielsen hasn't been a decent player in about 2 years time. He's completely washed up and has been for awhile now.

I think you are really overrating the level of that roster big time. They would be lucky to win even 3 games in the Euroleague.
