Reports that CC, Kuroda, and Hughes have spots locked up. That leaves Pettitte, Garcia, Pineda, and Nova.
Your final two spots?
Keep in mind, I really don't see the rotation finishing up the season that way.
Somehow, I have a feeling when the playoffs begin the rotation will say: CC, Pineda, Pettitte, Hughes...
With Kuroda sulking back to the West Coast, Garcia and Nova either long relief or emergency starter.
But that's over 100 games plus between...

Yea, I like Freddy for the #5 just cause he knows how to spot location since his velocity isn't what it once was.

Of course not...injuries are bound to happen. Like last season.

where's he going exactly? Pettitte won't be ready for major league hitters until at least May (if he proves himself to be good enough)......Nova is number 5 until then.

Re: Hmmm...rotation so far.
Nova will be used in the Sergio Mitre way...Cashman hoping his stock will be worth enough to where he can be moved for future assets, assuming Pineda heals and is ready to go...and Pettitte/Garcia monster is working fine.
Reason why, he doesn't have overpowering stuff and guys second season around are starting to come up with a game plan against him. Is that souring on the young man? Absolutely not.
However there are too high expectations to sort his pitching out. AL East still vaunts some of the nastiest offenses...and if I may be so bold, Yanks offense is in name only.

I don't really agree with that assessmentl. Nova's had a a few rough innings this spring but he's still looked fine. Obviously being year two, hitters will be making adjustments but then its on Nova to then re-adjust his game. His fastball hits 93, thats plenty fine.....its also spring training, doesnt really matter.....
Since Pineda is hurt I'm fine with him not starting in the rotation, but CC, Hughes, Nova, and Pineda should all be locks for the rotation IMO (no particuliar order), let the old guys who won't be here long battle it out for the other spots. Garcia, should have no chance at being in the rotation.
Agreed, the offense is going to have to work hard (and not get injured) for it to live up to everyones expectations.

It's not top speed but how long one can maintain that speed WITH movement. I think Nova really lives around 91mph and contact...keep in mind, this aging infield doesn't have the range it once did. THAT'S what I am looking at.
Sure, by default, I see him pitching till Pineda or Pettitte gets back...but I'd be surprised if he continues last season's pace. Obviously I want to be wrong...but that's how I am reading the tea leaves.
Hmmm...funny how right now, Hughes looks the BEST of the young trifecta. Scared?

Re: Hmmm...rotation so far.
With the range Cano has at 2nd, Jeter really doesnt even have to cover as much ground as he used to. We really started to see that last year as Cano regularly went past 2nd covering some of SS, so yes while Jeter and Arod dont have the range they used to, I feel Cano somehow helps cover that up.
Fair enough, I think Nova will be fine personally, somewhere between #2 and 4 by the ends of the year.
I'm still really high on Pineda too, no reason not to be, even with a slower fastball this spring he was making guys look silly, the media is just overreacting. How many times did Clemens or other guys come into spring trainging not having their top fastball? (Hint, basically every season)
Hughes had a great spring and I'm glad they're keeping him in the rotation not messing around with him, but I need to see consistency from him all season, Pineda to me still looks by far the best.
