Sounds like they're going to use meds to shrink the inflammation now and that should do the trick to get him back for the first round ... if we can hold on to the 8th spot.

Exactly. Epidural injections to shrink the inflamation. Very common and successful treatment. Also Yoga and physiotherapy... Same as Derick Rose!

People should realize that protruding discs are not by themselves major back problems. Not from everything I've heard from doctors. They can be painful but they can be treated and go away.

Backs are mysterious though -- and things can linger. But 2-4 weeks and meds to shrink the disk indicate that this is something they don't expect to hamper him in the short term or long run.

Same problem as D-Rose... Not welcomed, but not a tragedy either!

Well, yeah. Doc's been waiting for a reason to start bad-mouthing Stat again, now he has it.

The guy was asking questions about freakin' tattoos yesterday. Good thing Amare hurt his back - Doc was running out of things to say.

Get yer facts straight: I wasn't just "asking questions about tattoos yesterday." I am STILL asking questions today! So what?

I don't need a "reason" to bad mouth Stat. All I have to do is watch him play the bulk of this season! :o

Face the inevitable truth: The Stat we saw last year is never coming back (no pun intended) to us!
Tanking again, I suppose. Is there any other way?

Yeah, except when he was starting to light it up. You went pretty quiet at that point. Then this happens and you're back calling him a liar and whatnot.

Pretty transparent.

Of course I was somewhat quiet. If Stat plays well, you'll never hear me criticize him. Why would I?

But that's not objective at all. If Amar'e is doing well, then you should give him the credit he deserves. Don't simply wait when he's not playing well to post about him.

When I first heard of the news, I was disappointed. Not disappointed in him but that our team will be weaker. It's not his fault that he has a bulging disc; it is something that just happened. I hope he has a great recovery and he can get back to how he is. And if not, I'll still support him. Why? Because I'm a fan of this team and I support everyone on it.

You do seem to have it in for Amar'e. Melo has been worse than Amar'e, to me, this season, but you don't seem to slash into Melo nearly as much as Amar'e. And a lot of people are banged up and out of sync in this strange, rushed season.

It's way too early to count Amar'e out for good. Even if he doesn't come back great this season, it's still way too early to count him out. Amar'e could well have a lot of elite basketball left in him. Or maybe he doesn't. The point is, we don't know, you don't know, so the constant drumbeat of negativity is a little much.

Stat is not 35 and he's shown major signs of regaining form in the recent weeks -- you didn't even give him a chance to do that and he did, right? So why should we believe you that he's finished now? You already pronounced him dead a while ago and he wasn't.

Is Derrick Rose finished too?

What's dishonest about my posts? I want to give the guy a chance and I root for him because he's a Knick. You don't. I don't call him a 'consummate liar' because he hurt his damn back. You do.

I root for guys on the Knicks, even if they're struggling. In at least one instance, you've incessantly bashed a struggling player, then you shut up when that player stopped struggling.

Other people can decide who's being dishonest here.

Yeah, because if he comes right at the start of the playoffs, I'd rather just sit him. Going into the playoffs rusty isn't a good idea.

Yea people need to ease up on their expectations and his return. His game may never be the same from a mental approach.

Not so. 2 weeks on the short end is a very brief estimate. No way they give him such a short timetable unless they don't feel it's serious or long lasting.

Were not going anywhere this season so I say just end his season. He was starting to look great until this happened so why risk it.

I don't think Amare's mental approach to the game ever needs to be questioned. I don't think I've ever seen him lose his swagger. It's there to the point where it's comical sometimes.
