Re: Spurs @ Kings
Should be a 10 point game if Splitter could make a layup. Giving up way too many easy looks inside, they're just not making them.

Re: Spurs @ Kings
They're baiting us to isolate more offensively and we're taking the bait. We've got to make a more concerted effort to look to pass all the time.
Defensively, sometimes it's lapses, and sometimes it's them making tough shots. It seems so simple, but we really just need to have more consistent focus. And Cuz needs to get back in transition more. We're naked on the defensive glass without him.

Re: Spurs @ Kings
Jesus. We just look like we have no intention of playing defense.

Re: Spurs @ Kings
Well, we can keep doing this back and forth thing, but we're never going to win this game if we don't improve our shot selection and get a few more stops. I'm not a huge fan of how we're playing right now.

Seriously, what a **** good team, man. I think a coach pointing to video of the Spurs and going "Do what they do" would be more effective than about half the coaches in the NBA.

Re: Spurs @ Kings
Once again it is wing defense that kills us. Thornton and Evans playing together are liabilities (Well Thornton is just a liability period). Either Thornton embraces becoming a sixth man or this team is going to suck defensively forever.

There's not too much to say here. The Spurs are a more experienced and talented team, and they hit a lot of contested and well-defended shots. I mean a lot. Our guys played great outside of a string of turnovers early on. I really can't complain about the effort. We're just not at their level yet.

Jason Jones @mr_jasonjones Close
Cousins said he told Tim Duncan during the game "S#@! you're good."
Ain't that the truth. I haven't watched the Spurs much this season, but Duncan straight up schooled Cousins a few times tonight. Ginobili is still one of the best 2-guards in the league, and Parker doesn't seem to have lost a step either.

Evans isn't a great defender at the 3, but that's pretty much a given. I mean, he's playing out of position against guys who are generally bigger, stronger, and more athletic than he is. Thornton's really the problem. Well, better said: the Kings' current problem is that they have 2 solid 2-guards (arguably both top 10 at their positions) and one can't play defense and the other can't shoot.
Then there's what do you do? Move Thornton to the bench and he's basically playing behind a guy who should be playing 35 minutes a game. It's hard to trade him as well because (unless a GM is an idiot--far from a given) he'll realize that unless he either has Dwight Howard at the 5 OR a PG who can defend the 2 his team will be getting lit up night in and night out by whoever Thornton guards.
