Nash: won't stay if Suns don't 'upgrade' roster

Paul Coro wrote:"I definitely do want to win," Nash told Patrick. "I'm not going to come back to the Suns if there isn't an improvement, if they're not ambitious and they're not looking to upgrade the roster seriously. And I think they are. They'll have a lot of flexibility in free agency. They'll also have been standing pat in many ways so they could do some things this summer. I think they'll become a definite possiblity for me. I do want to win. I do want to consider all my options."

What upgrades can we make???

Max Eric Gordon? Sign Garnett and Allen to the Sun City Suns? Maybe trade our draft pick and Frye for something like Josh Smith??

What do you guys think?

Love this from Steve...put pressure on the FO to improve...hopefully they don't overpay crappy free agents though. Would rather trade Gortat for someone like josh smith or another young star, and maybe trade up in the draft for top 7 pick. Only free agent I'd go balls out for and overpay is Eric Gordon. I'd consider resigning brown for cheap depth. I'd also try to get Aaron brooks for a reasonable deal, but not overspend. If not brooks, draft rookie PG like Marshall. Biggest question mark becomes Center...any thoughts on that if we trade Gortat?

Nash / Brooks or Marshall
E. Gordon / Dudley / Brown
Josh Smith / Hill
Morris / Frye

I'm glad he finally said it, and won't let the FO take advantage of him anymore. Its gotta be frustrating to see the Spurs bend backwards to try and surrond their veterens with quality players to make another title run (one they could acutually make it all the way) while the suns make no damn effort here. Nash wants to be competative, Nash does want to win a ring HERE in Phoenix, so its time for suns to make the effort.

Good to see Nash speaking out about this. We can't keep giving out deals to bad players, like we have for the last two years.

There are some key free agents available in the offseason. My biggest worry is offering EJ a max contract, he's still hurt, or the Hornets match. Or the FO signs junk and sells it to Nash as upgrades, and he resigns here and we do poorly come ball time.

Well the Steve Nash era is likely done. It's been fun. Time for the Shabazz era to begin in 2013.

About time Nash spoke up and I'm happy he did. If we don't prove let him leave to a contender. Love you Nash thank you for finally speaking up.

Why say this now? He should have said it before the trade deadline, and thing would have really made things interesting. :D

At what extent will he consider us upgraded? The next question would be, where would he go if not here? Back to Dallas? NY? Miami?

Well

That's what a lot of the tankers were saying... Nash should of been traded because we know the FO will not sign mediocre stars to long big contracs to appease a 38 years old Star.

Suns will lose him for nothing or the Suns will take the bullet and overpay for second tier stars to continue building around Nashs system.... Which I think is way pass its overdue date.

Suns didn't want I trade him until he demands it... So he didn't demand it, but now that it's pass the trade deadline he give out an ultimatum that he will come back only if the team is significant improved... I don't blame him but the Suns FO should of done a business decision then.

Suns shoul Defintely NOT use up their space for mediocre stars.... They need to save it for the new era...

I was fine with not trading him, for there weren't any decent offers, and he made it seem as if he wanted to stay. Maybe he just wants a new coach. :D An upgrade in that area won't affect the cap. The funny part is we could sign average guys, and that would be an upgrade over a few of the guys we currently have.

All we can really do is sign Eric Gordon/OJ Mayo. If we could do that, then I don't know who we would draft, since our largest need would become SF. I guess that would leave us no choice but to take PJ3. I like him more as a fast break/finesse PF than a SF, but oh well. I don't know if these additions would be enough to keep him but it would be interesting.

PG - Nash
SG - Mayo or Gordon
SF - PJ3 or Hill
PF - Frye or Morris or PJ3
C - Gortat

Definitely a playoff lineup, but I don't know how deep it would go... probably second round anyway (depending on other team's signings)

That would be a joke. KD is a 6'10" sf, is he a joke? Height has little to do with position abilities.

Letting both Steve Nash and Amar'e Stoudemire evaporate into thin air would be an epic fail. I can't imagine the FO letting this happen.
